Re: Why do Modern WPs not use PP bonuses but Ancient WP do?
i can answer this has a former marine. in boot camp i got marksman on the rifle range with my m-16. thats really good, but when it comes to actual balance i am somewhat less than normal. rifles and handguns in general require more of a hand and eye coordination then speed and agility. I like the Troll Mercenary idea. I've made them for NPCs in the past. ![Smile :-)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Magic Staff and wands
Island at the End of the World and you need psionics to make them work. We have spells to make tailsmans and amulets, and necromancer can make staffs and scepters, so these spells I'm seeing here just make sense. Keep them up guys. I didn't realize you needed Psionics to get them to work. I have th...

They have Crystal Staves and Wands in one of the PF Books as well. I just don't remember what it's called.

Re: SA-7s
I don't know about that. I've never got the impression that the SA-7 was really that effective of a weapon. The Iraqis had a lot of them and didn't accomplish a lot with them. Neither did the Afgan Taliban. It is just a poor knock-off of the US Redeye manpad SAM, and not a very good one. One thing ...

My father was Army. 3 tours in Vietnam with the 173rd. Received 4 Bronze Stars. He retired out of the 82nd at Bragg in 89. What a small world. I just met someone from the 82nd, posted at Bragg in '89. He tells a pretty good story of a drop into Panama, too. Wonder if he knew your father. It is a sm...

I wish someone would come up with the stats for Dragonskin Body Armor. There are stories of a soldiers in Iraq being shot between 3 to 5 time from an AK47 and not only survive, but not a single round penetrating the body armor. It's flexible, light and extremely protective. We don't wear Dragonskin...

No body armour for Nam era games. But when we do modern combat games we use armour from the modern weapons book for stopping power. If it does not stop the round, you take all the damage. This is slightly different than jefffar's method. I pretty much do the same thing as you, except that I do allo...

I don't use body armor/vests in the RECON games that I GM. They weren't common at all in the Vietnam War, with the exception of Flak Jackets (and their diaper-looking shorts counter part). Despite popular misconseptions Flak Jackets issued to stateside infantrymen weren't originally designed as prot...

Definitely have to agree, it's realistic. I just missed 'Nam myself, so I can actually play the game without PTSD LOL! I was a bit young for Nam- lol (born in '70). I ask for no special treatment if I'm a human player, and I give no special treatment if I'm the GM. I always play humans because it's what I identify with. I play them because it's a hell of a lot more challenging to assault a building filled with gargoyles with 4 CS Special Forces then it is with...

Some of these vehicles would be great for a Dead Reign campaign.

Penetration value for e-weapons might not be a bad idea: I'd want to work out some details in execution, but I'd be willing to try it. I think it would still go better to have armour have less MDC/SDC in comparison to small arms. I think I'll start a forum on it- so I won't change the topic in here...

I don't have the compendium. Would you mind giving me a quick explanation, whenever you got a minute? So how does the system work GreenGhost? Say with the Light body armour, which has an AR13, an a pv value of 5. Does that mean that any roll below 13 only damages the armour, but any roll above 13 that does more than 5 mdc will penetrate the armour? I was actually just showing the AR that was alread...

You use RECON's hit location table, right? Or whichever you use I'd have to see it because it a roll of 5 or better (and in Rifts that pretty much every roll) a guy in Huntsman armour is going to pretty much die anytime he get shot? Yes- I use the RECON Hit Location. As for rolling a 5 or better; i...

Something to consider: Most armor designed to be worn and fought in has certain locations that are fundamentally weaker than other places because they need to be flexible, most notably the neck and joints. The neck needs special attention because how it can as crucial as the head for a critical str...
