EDIT: It's all over! $438,076 pledged! All 42 stretch goals unlocked! I wonder how long it'll take for them to deliver?

With the expanded player's guide, Pinnacle's estimate is early to mid July for the pdfs to be delivered, with a physical reward delivery in November or December.

Re: Savage Rifts Kickstarter

Aaaaand we're done! Over $438,000 for the Kickstarter, which is unprecedented for Pinnacle, and pretty good for role-playing Kickstarters in general. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Pretty much the entire part of cali is a great big ? and always has been I think by intention. The only thing I've ever seen Rifts mention about California is that the fault lines there all went up at once when the Yosemite super-volcano blew, and basically everything along the San Andreas was wipe...

Re: Making Rifts® Savage: Mega Damage, Vampires, and Juicer

How is skill selection handled? Is it more flexible, or is it the same lousy, cookie-cutter system currently used? Savage Worlds core has 23 skills instead of the dozens and dozens in Rifts. Each skill is pretty broad, so Fighting represents skill with all forms of close combat, Shooting is skill i...

And I'm pretty sure most GMs would let you spend a Benny to reroll it. That means starting the session with one less Benny, but hey, drug addiction's a hell of a thing.

Re: Rifts for Savage Worlds has launched on Kickstarter

It's very encouraging to see this kickstarter doing so well. What is this "Tomorrow Legion" and "Castle Refuge" the kickstarter keeps harping on? Will we see that on the Palladium side of things? The Tomorrow Legion is the new heroic faction being introduced for Savage Rifts. Ba...

I said I was being conservative with my estimate, but I was apparently being really conservative. By the time I got back from lunch, they were over $50K, and they're up past $80K now, only two hours into this whole thing. Kudos to everyone involved!

Re: Savage Rifts Kickstarter

Whew. 80 grand in two hours is pretty great. This could well be on track for a million bucks (he said hopefully). They're into me for $115 right now, to get the GM books collection plus that lovely poster map. If I can scrounge up 15 more bucks somewhere, I'll be upgrading those bad boys to hardcove...

I'll miss the very start of the KS because I'll be at lunch with my wife, but here's my prediction: By the time I get back to the office at 1pm, the thing will have already funded, and probably reached the first stretch goal. =3

Re: Savage Rifts Kickstarter

If i understand the business model this company uses RnD is either done or almost done by the time the kick starter hits. Yeah. As someone who's worked with Pinnacle in the past and supported a fair number of their Kickstarters as a fan, they're pretty loathe to promise anything that there's any po...

Re: Elf Cyberknight

As with any rules question, you can figure out the answer by asking yourself two questions: 1) Does it break anything? Given that this is Rifts we're talking about, the answer is almost certainly "no." 2) Will it enhance the fun of the player without damaging the fun of anyone else? The an...

I only can make out the Line Walker, Glitterboy, Burster, and Full Conversion Cyborg. The other four just look like mercenaries although 2 of them seem to have psyswords. Re: Savage Rifts Kickstarter

Sweet. So based on the last two Pinnacle Kickstarters I've backed, we should have PDFs available approximately mid-June. Probably something like that! Pinnacle has an amazing track record with KS, especially thanks to their policy of "only announce once everything is basically ready to go."

You might want to call your idea something else, like an "Encounter Deck," since the Adventure Deck for Savage Worlds doesn't really work anything like this.

Re: A conversion of RIFTS?

In my above post I was referring to Adventure cards. I was wondering is a Adventure deck might be made by Savage Worlds for Rifts. Given the way that Pinnacle has done it in the past, I have no doubt they'll release an add-on of Adventure Deck cards for Rifts like they have for several of their oth...

Re: A conversion of RIFTS?

Hey for the people that have played SW how heavily involved is the miniature side of things? I've been running Savage Worlds regularly for almost a decade now. I used miniatures and tabletop maps in my very first game, and never since. It's a game that can have good tabletop tactical depth, but whi...

Re: Artist Interpretations

Personally, I think illustrations are canon. They build the setting the same as words do, only with a different technique. The problem with that attitude is that it ignores the Doylist problem with RPG art. That is, artists for roleplaying books are typically given short descriptions of things and ...

Re: Exciting News! New Edition!

So...does this new system suck? Is it superior? As a huge fan of Savage Worlds, I'd say that it's one of the best pieces of game design to come out of the last decade. It's a medium-crunch system that is primarily a traditional RPG, with a slight narrativist conceit in the form of "bennies&quo...

Nightbane Personal Canon

So Nightbane is a great setting, I'm pretty sure we can all agree on that. But there are definitely parts of it that are unpolished and rough, or even outright bad. "The NSB really stands for Nightlords Society of Blood !" is a lurid bit of nonsense that doesn't contribute anything to the ...
