Unless you can explain how a game can consist of no hurdles or problems and still be a game. The monsters are usually the hurdle in an MMO. Everquest I and II, Anarchy Online, City of Heroes, Matrix Online, Saga of Ryzom... these are MMOs that I have played and in these MMOs, there's usually only t...

For example, say in a combat killing all your foes gives you 50 victory points - but 50 victory poitns only gets you 50% XP. What if there was another role to be forfilled that was needed to get the other half. And, using your imagination, you took your idea and somehow that role was it, implemente...

Okay, why did the player choose a rogue scholar? What did they expect a rogue scholar to be able to DO? It seems to me two problems are occuring - A: the players in your example don't know what the hell role they want their character selection to forfil B: There is only one role present - damage de...

The problem with not balancing classes is that eventually, the higher power classes (let's say Dragons) get to walk all over everything. There's only two ways to avoid that. Totally balance classes (either nerf dragons or beef up vagabonds, the end result's the same: Dragons are just as powerful as ...

Okay, I came in late. Sue me. (No, wait! Get those Splugorth lawyers back! Back I say!) My ideal for Rifts: First, no anime. I have to admit, I'm tired of all animated shows being anime these days. Okay, I have some questions. There hasn't been an attempt to address this since the first Rifts Conversion Book lo those many moons ago. If teleporting into a giant robot is affecting the occupants, then so is using a spell to knock the robot down (the occupants go bouncy). So, can a robot not be affected by tremor-type spells then? It seems if we decide that the cause cannot affect the occupants means that the effect from that cause...

Or, the character really *does* teleport... but, to do so, he melds with any available water source, including humidity, to form what is the aquatic version of shadow-stepping... he turns to water, vanishes, water appears elsewhere, and there he is. Okay, that was one really *nasty* run-on sentence....

One more thing. You say that no magc can penetrate the skin of a robot, and that's why teleport doesn't work, and that's all-inclusive because it's not qualified. Okay... Let's try this again. Teleport does not require LOS to work, I think we can agree on that, yes? (Otherwise, allowing a range of 300 miles per level is ludicrous. I can't see 300 miles, can you?). Given that, I think we can safely say there is no magic beam or trail needed. Now, given that, we have t...
