I think that you're using 'read' in the wrong context here, since the mage would end up having to cast the spell when he creates it since he can't logically create the scroll without actually looking at it. You wouldn't develop something like a scroll but set it up so you couldn't even glance at it...

I guess there would be a couple places I could have been more specific. The big guy is a Grackle Tooth. But Grackles aren't really a complete RCC - they just have a few bonuses to stack on top of their OCC. I'll look at the PFRPG OCCs you suggested, but that brings up the same question I asked about...

I'd have to do a search for it, but IIRC, only Principled alignments are forbidden from using animal sacrifices at all, and Scrupulous alignments only use them if absolutely needed. Many spells have non-zero durations. By stacking spells indefinitely, things can get overpowered VERY quickly.

That said, I would not be opposed to a Talisman Mage OCC but it would have to be carefully designed to avoid turning the mystic forces of the cosmos into a commodity and ending up with an effective unlimited PPE and Spell Base. I'm not sure that talismans would have that high of a value as a commod...
