I did not thought about constant, damaging fields (thought
that it might worth its own topic), but a simple "warhead".
It goes off, and everything in the area suffers damage,
as if hit by a phase beamer. Force fields stop damage
(and get damaged), larger creatures and/or force fields
take more damage.

more, it only requires a single shot-converted weapon.
But it is also equally feasible to use a disposable device.
(Because it is not useable against you and the prometheans
will have a bigger profit margin).
Not really on this line, but such a warhead might be created
to emit several blasts once it hits...
