AUGG ships can be made kinda +15 to dodge (even
more vs missiles), and their weaponry have way more
range.
If converted to Phase World, they are superior, except
for their FTL.

And this is odd... So I would go for redesigning the 3 galactic
vessels (at least for sublight speeds and weapon range).

Now, for the cloaking system.

For short, stealth comes from the "sources" below
(IMO of course):
- Shape of the vessel (F-117, B2)
- Coating (the stealth craft above, plus many planes retrofitted)
- Shield calibration (doing the same, as the above two)
- ECM ("They can jam any of your sensors, except your eye" -SW ep IV)
and maybe in the CG-rich enviroment of the Three Galaxies, GCM.
- Visual cloaking (Sorry, Red Leader was wrong :D)

Not sure what i'll do...

I'm actually leaning more and more towards a list of things to think about and consider when you make your own ship, rather than hard and fast rules that no one will like or use in their original format. ;)

Cloaking as seen in Trek or in Predator is just one type of "reduced palpability" - ie. stealth.
(Probably close to the ultimate solution).

Yet, where camouflage (another "stealth" method) ends
and where true cloaking begins?

So, for simplicity's sake, I included all methods into the
basket-term of "stealth".

Another thing is jamming (ECM does both) when you counter
the opposition's sensors, so he is aware of your presence,
but cannot locate (therefore meaningfully combat) you.

Stealth is kinda a black ninja suit in the night, while
jamming is a flashbang grenade. Both make you
-in effect - invisible to the guard.

Scanning over different wavelenghts and using computer assisted
spectral analysis will reveal even black ships - as the space is not
really "blank".Just search for those spectacular photos Hubble taken.

But of course, painting the ship black and turning off the lights
helps a lot.

On a second thought, an asteroid would be revealed by gravitonic
scans too, but...

But the spacers who relies on a single solution will soon be dead.
Space is not very forgiving, EVERYTHING must have a redundant

My guess is, that maintaining the shield at higher speeds
uses vastly more energy, that sensors.

Except of course, if someone uses relays and vacuum tubes
instead of semi- and superconductor based electronics. :-D

Seriously: sensors are the least "hungry" systems, especially
"passive" sensors.

But yeah: most ships have several reactors. Evel small,
civilian vessels have a healthy backup generator or battery.
