So the PCs are working for a secret organization hunting supernatural threats....
With a little help from a weapons cache, they stop what might have become a great global threat....
Then the authorities show up....
PC1: "So, are we out here camping or are we part of a super-organization?"
PC2: "Either way, I'm setting down my flamethrower"

The PCs were at a very odd party where it seemed fairly evident that the guests (other than the PCs) were vampires. The PCs find all sorts of evidence to this (gold dinnerware, old portraits of what looked like the people at the party) and so the PCs barricade themselves in one of the rooms and break up a bunch of polearms that had been on display so that they at least have some wooden impaling weapons.

The mage of the group cracks open the door (and the GM privately describes what the mage can see, which turns out to be practially a scene out of Hellraiser - definitely not vampires).

The mage carefully closes the door and turns to the rest of the party: "Well, the good news is that they aren't vampires. The bad news is that we are still [screwed - but he didn't say "screwed"]."
"Things aren't what they used to be" is the rallying cry of small minds. When men say things used to be better, they invariably mean they were better for them, because they were young, and had all their hopes intact. The world is bound to look a darker place as you slide into the grave.

Misfit KotLD wrote:Not Pally rules, but a D&D game I was in with my friends saw me deilver a good one. I was playing the party thief investigating a chest out of view of the party. This all happened around the table, no note passing either. Brian: "How much gold's in the chest?" Me: "GM?" GM: "30 gold, 10 platinum." Me: "25 gold, 7 platinum." All my friends were rolling and I managed to get away with that stuff the whole adventure.

On a similar note, I was playing a "Know it all" characters in a game last summer. Everyone turned to my character for knowledge of things, which was helpful, since I, personally, had a huge amount of knowledge about the game and most of the stuff in it (I made up for it by being completely useless in combat.)

I start going on about something... describing the details of a certain religion, and how they behave in terms designed to **** off one of the clerics in the party. The GM interrupts me saying "Actually, your character knows that's not right." Without missing a beat, my response was "I know that, but my character is lying."

I was playing a PF Palladin that had just gotten rifted into a Rifts game. I had discovered that my platemail was useless against the weapons used on Rifts earth. The party had come upon a bizaar out in the middle of nowhere, and there were a lot of traders around, dealing in all kinds of stuff.

So, I (the rest of the party were talking to someone else) walked up to a group of about 7 wolfen. I politely introduced myself, and then explained my predicament. I asked if they had any armor for sale that could stop the strange weapons that I had encountered. I asked them if gold was a valid currency on this world.

The lead wolfen says, "So you're telling me that your armor won't stop our weapons?"
Me, "Yeah."
The wolfen, "Let me see your gold."
Me, "What are you offering?"
The wolfen, now with a vibrosword at my neck, "Give me your gold."
Me, playing dumb, "Where's the armor you're offering?"
The wolfen, "Last request. Give me your gold." The other wolfen are snickering.

I tell the GM that I'll quickdraw and parry the vibrosword (with my "nothing special", magical, +1 sword). I roll a 1!

The GM, probably just being nice, tells me that I parry the vibrosword, but the sword is still in the scabbard, I've ripped my belt off, and the other stuff that was on my belt has scattered around me.

Not missing a beat, I plead, "Please, don't make me draw this. It's hungry!"

They tucked their tails and ran.

Anyway the male Wolfen is bragging about how he had "relations" with a human woman once and the female Wolfen looks at him all bug eyed and stammers out...

"But...But... thats...... HUMANALITY?!?"

The rest of us had to take a couple minutes to stop laughing.

Bah. Immortality and marriage are just 2 things that should never mix. Any kind of prolongued lifespan shouldn't be burdened with monogamy.- Alejandro
