New missing animals are good.
Need more.
Need more.
I hate it when my mind wonders,
Because I have no idea what it will bring back with it.

Nice work. I think someone else did the Rhino & Hippo stats already. It's been a while.

Wasn't there a Red Panda write up awhile back? Does anyone have a copy or remember who wrote it?

I'd like to see a giant panda.
I have fond memories of the Panda Khan and Usagi Yojimbo action figures from the Playmates TMNT action figure series of the 80s and I always wanted to do that crossover in my TMNT game.

Whales and dolphins were done up old TMNT style in Road Hogs, I think, or at least later books made reference to dolphins and whales and then referred the reader to Road Hogs.

Technically the Triceratons would be considered an illegal conversion now, as would any of the other aliens, as they are property of Mirage studios.

I don't know if it's an updated version or not, but there's a mutant octopus presented in Rifter #29.

I remember that it was posted on a website and that I helped with some of the work on that site, but it escapes me as to what site it was.

A nice set of stats, but a few things struck my eye as incorrect, the first was the"Climbing Claws", AFAIK, tigers hunt by charging their prey from behind or from the side, furthermore, while they do drag their prey into shelter, they do not share the Jaguar/Leopard habit of dragging their prey up a tree to feed on it later. They are also a bit heavy to climb a tree, so I'd drop the climbing claws and settle for conventional retractable claws.
Tiger's are quite fond of swimming, so why not give an option to actually buy the Swimming skill of 60% for 10 BIO-E, instead of just offering a small bonus to a pre-existing swimming skill. Also, I think that Leaping: Feline should also be an automatic trait, because they utilize it while hunting.
The PS bonus is a bit high, and PP bonus a bit low, I have HU2 and it lists a +4 PS bonus and a +6 PP bonus in its tiger stats.
Not all tigers are orange and black, there are white bengals(they're not albinos, they have stripes and blue eyes) and "melanistic" black ones also. Consider revising the text so that it implies no actual color scheme.

Kinthalis Silverbow wrote:You might be right about the climbing claws, I'll have to check my research again. I know that tigers like to swim. However, most of the water animals in second edition can't get a bonus to swimming, much less buy it as a skill. I don't think it would be fair to let the tiger buy it as a skill when the otter and alligator can't.
I based the strength and prowess bonuses off the lion in second edition. As for the coloration issue, that is dealt with in the optional appearance tables.
I think that all primarily water-dwelling creatures should have at least basic swimming skill as an automatic(or at least mandatory pick) skill or allow them to buy it using BIO-E.

Giant Panda
Giant Panda (Bear)
[revised August 24, 2006]
Original Animal Characteristics
Size Level: 11
Length: 4-6 feet (1.2 to 1.8 m).
Weight: 220-250 lbs (135 to 180 kg).
Build: Medium.
Mutant Changes & Cost
Total BIO-E: 25
Attribute Bonuses: +3D6 SDC, +4 to PS, Brute Strength, +3 PE, +3 PB and +4 Spd.
Human Features
Hands: Automatically partial or 5 BIO-E for full.
Biped: Automaticallt partial or 5 BIO-E for full.
Speech: 5 BIO-E for partial or 10 BIO-E for full.
Looks: None. The giant panda, a black-and-white bear, has a body typical of bears. It has black fur on ears, eye patches, muzzle, legs, and shoulders. The rest of the animal's coat is white.
5 BIO-E for partial. Has the general characteristics similar to a mutant bear (small, humanoid in appearance, difined snout and heavy fur, and massive build) but is distinguished by it's black-and-white coat.
10 BIO-E for full. Humanoid with dark circles around small beedy eyes; broad or nose; large round dark ears; a lot of thick body hair (dark on the arms, legs, and upper back); powerful build and barrel chest.
Natural Weapons
5 BIO-E for 2D4 damage Heavy Claws.
10 BIO-E for 2D6 damage Heavy Claws.
5 BIO-E for 1D6 damage Teeth.
10 BIO-E for 2D6 damage Teeth.
Mutant Animal Powers
Automatically gets Advanced Sight (can be traded away for color blind).
10 BIO-E for Beastly Strength.
20 BIO-E for Crushing Strength.
5 BIO-E for Extra Physical Endurance.
10 BIO-E for Extraordinary Speed.
5 BIO-E for Advanced Hearing.
5 BIO-E for Advanced Smell.
10 BIO-E for Predatory Burst.
10 BIO-E for Hold Breath.
Vestigial Disadvantages
-5 BIO-E for Color Blindness.
-5 BIO-E for taking Nearsightedness.
-10 BIO-E for taking Vesigial "pseudo thumb" (Special). Over the centuries, Giant Pandas have evolved a "pseudo thumb" formed by an elongated and enlarged wrist bone covered with a fleshy pad of skin. Now this "thumb" gets in the way and reduces the Panda's manual dexterity (-10% on skills requiring manual dexterity).
-10 BIO-E for taking Reptile Brain: Predator.
-10 BIO-E for Musk Glands.
-10 BIO-E for Diet: Carnivore.
-10 BIO-E for Diet: Herbivore.
-15 BIO-E for Diet: Bamboo (Special). Giant pandas are biologically unique. They are closely related to bears and have the digestive system of a carnivore, but they have adapted to a vegetarian diet and depend almost exclusively on bamboo as a food source. Not designed to process plant matter, the panda's digestive system cannot easily break down the cellulose in bamboo, so pandas must eat huge amounts - as much as 83 pounds or about 40 kg, and for up to 14 hours, each day [Source: WWF China].
NOTES & MORE INFO:
- REVISIONS: Size reduced from 14, BIO-E raised from 10, PS bonus changed from +1D6+4.
- Unlike other bears, pandas do not hibernate.
- There is on-going debate as to whether this creature is truly a bear or more related to the raccoon, or perhaps in a class of its own, rather than to a bear.
