the basic problem with the OCC as written is that, apparently, no one can decide if they are the Three Galaxies' equivalent of a) the Silver Surfer, or b) Jedi Knights.
If they are the Silver Surfers (Heralds of the Forge?), then the OCC should be corrected to the following: Travel in an atmosphere at Mach 1/level, travel in space at x2 atmospheric speed, and travel FTL at 1 light-year per hour, plus 1 light-year per hour on odd levels (3, 5,7,etc). In this way, a 15th level CK would be able to outpace any known starfighter (Mach 30), and could travel faster than any current starship (8 lyrs/hr).
If they are Jedi, then they can only fly in an atmosphere at mach 1/level. At Fifth level they can fly out into space, but have no doubled speed. They can go FTL as stated in the book and FAQ - 1 light-year per use of their power, at a speed of 5 lyr/hr. Obviously, Jedi Cosmo Knights will be hitching rides on a lot of spaceships if they plan to get anywhere...
I say, pick whatever style best fits your game and use that. Anything else will give you a headache.

If that doesn't prompt you to buy it, I don't know what else I can say.

I'm doing reserach for Thundercloud Galaxy right now...
but maybe a (short) Rifter article clearing up some of the fuzzy OCC details and unveiling the Lords of Entropy, is do-able.

103. In Rifts-rpg can a Cosmo Knights cosmic blast be used against vampires and undead as a holy weapon?
Answer: It cannot.
from the Combat FAQ
49. I wanted to know if a cosmo knight can damage a vampire through a punch, cosmic blast, or, cosmic weapon?
Answer: There weapons and natural damage is considered supernatural, so they can inflict damage to vampires.
Ah! So we're ALL right...

For my two cents worth I think the Cosmo Knight shouldbe the "Silver Surver" type. Shame about the cosmic blast doing nothing to vampires. I think that is just wrong, who gave that answer, KS or some other source?

Petrified wood just because we could.

Woo... and I thought it is the Chinese who practices Tai Chi!
PS: We say someone is playing Tai Chi when a task is shunned and pass from one person to another, just like the way Tai Chi masters do.
Thats cool Yeah I was passing the buck big time. Perhaps in a future book Braden or I can expand on it. Maybe we should compile a list of questions so they can all be addressed.

That list of errata stickied to the top of the forum is a good place to start.
I'm already going to include the CAF Shield Bearer Missile Tank in Thundercloud.

wrong and what it meant in life. After a while he awoke and found himself surrounded by hundreds...no thousands of
armor clad beings, gathered about the large bonfire before him. They slowly began a chant, until in unison they spoke
the words over and over and over...
The Forge is the Fire of Life, it's laws are burned into me and those around me.
Live to serve...
Live to defend...
Live for freedom...
and continued on for 6 more stanzas, each with it's own verse.
Then it started over, then again and again.
By the 3rd go-round Rangis found himself remembering portions of it, so he repeated along with the others.
The bonfire grew in intensity, grew with each verse that was repeated until Rangis had found he had repeated
all of them word for word, line for line.
Then they all disapearred in flame that consumed them, then him. It was intense, searing pain.
Then he woke up.
No pain, no marks nothing.
It wasn't until later, when he accidentally ripped the door to his room off the hinges that he realized it
wasn't a dream...
Now that's cool
