Spluggorth Tracker and Registry

Unread post by taalismn »

Here's the thread to register your favorite galactic terrors, the Splugorth:

Canonical Splugorth:

Splynncryth(Rifts Atlantis)---The entrepenaurial Master of Atlantis

Kryygorth(Atlantis 2)---(In)famous maker of new species, now deceased(?)

Wothacrellyth(Pantheons of the Megaverse)---Head of a false Norse pantheon

Rynncryyl(Anvil Galaxy)---Insane overlord of a kingdom in the Anvil Galaxy...Currently AWOL in his obsession with the Cosmic Forge

Blyythznn(Anvil Galaxy)---Young upstart hoping to horn in on the kingdom of Rynncryyl

Billy Bob Blyncress(Rifter #13&1/2)----Happily blaise overlord of a single planet and Megaversal tourist...terror of tour-guides.

Fan Splgorth:

Cbysscryth---Happily demented stogie-chewing owner of one of the Three Galaxies' media network empires, Network Omni News

Medcrythh---Supplier of medicinal slimes, medical symbiotes, and under-the-counter narcotics to the Three Galaxies' markets, with an eye towards taking market-share, both legit and illegit, from Cibola(See Rifts South America)

Kyllggcryth---Galactic stockyard owner and supplier of fine meat products to the more monstrous citizenry of the Three Galaxies; CarniCrunchies is one of his flagship products, replacing Shredded Elf as the top breakfast nosh of the monster set.

KRENDELYTHH---Disappointed slave-raider, but proud owner of one of the best Splugorth Slaver Aerobatic Barge Teams in the Three Galaxies. Currently has a feud with Medcrythh over 'bad slime'.

Feel free to add...

Being written up as we speak:

Dyssleth the Elder: the ancient, blind Splugorth nominally in charge of the only Kingdom in the Thundercloud. He is being kept alive by biowizard life support machines, becasue his spawn, Dyssleth the Younger, a) loves his "father" and cannot bear to pull the plug, and b) is nto certain that he can stop the crumbling of the Kingdom.

Yes... evil beings can love too.

At one time, the Kingdom of Dyssleth covered half of the Thundercloud Galaxy, but over the past several hundred years has been slowly erroded by the TGE and Consortium efforts.

You know what's pathetic? A Splugorth with an eyepatch...

But sure, big bad, monstrousities can love, show loyalty, and show a certain amount of honor...but if you ever bring it up, they'll categorically deny it, and show you their bad side to prove it.

I'm just trying to come up with new twists on old villians... like a blind Splugorth (big, milky-white eye, becasue he is over 200,000 years old), or a Splugorth with a code of honour and an acutal sense of love and devotion (for his father only, of course)

Well...the description of the Splugorth certainly leaves that open...I mean, Splynncrythh is Anarchist in alignment, though everybody tends to mistake him for Aberrant or Miscreant...It's just that his perceptions are so alien compared to a regular human's, that he comes across as far more evil...and being Anarchist, he has the leeway to actually be more evil than if he were Aberrant or Diabolical....

BUt I do like the idea of Splugorth family loyalty(kudos to you there!)...even if it brings up parallels to human quandries(does the aged, blind patriarch actually WANT to have his time extended by artificial means? Does the offspring's actions actually constitute some act of heresy in the eyes of other Splugorth(who might expect the younger to immediately off a vulnerable elder and take full power(and responsibility) in assuming his place?)

Exactly. Alignment: Any, but usually Anarchist or evil. of course, a Splugorth of Good alignment could never engage in slavery what with a high regard for life and freedom... but a Splug who was Aberrant would be a solid business partner.

Thank you. I think its an interesting avenue as well.

In the manuscript, I will talk about how Splugorth reproduce... basically they are asexual and can make themselves pregnant. So a young Splugorth is actually just a less developed version of its parent. Could you kill your own, older clone father? Wouldn't that be killing your self?

The upswing of all this is that the Kingdom of Dyssleth has the hands-down most advanced medical centers in the MegaVerse... especially in the area of geriatric care.

Braden 's future posts promise to shed additional light on it...but being long-lived, magical in nature, and open-alignmented/minded, a liberal-minded Splugorth could be open to all manner of new experiences...and being Greatest Lover means being open to a LOT of new experiences.. :D

Well, if they're asexual parthogens...it's more of a father/clone source...BUT, perhaps the Splugorth utilize more than one means or reproduction(both natural and artificial)...for instance if a Splugorth wants to cement an alliance with another Splugorth, they might create a child of shared parentage as an intermediary(and someone to immediately kill off if the alliance breaks down)...GIven that the Splugorth haven't overwhelmed the universe already by sheer numbers, however, any such reproduction is used sparingly, or may have certain biological constraints that keep their numbers down...or perhaps there are LOTS of younger-form Splugorth already running around, by they are so physically different from their adult/parent forms that nobody has caught on yet...and maybe the younger Splugorth really don't KNOW that they're infant Splugorth(imagine after having a long life as a human, you suffer a fatal illness...and awaken from a coma to discover you're a giant cyclopean monster!).

Ah! How could I have forgotten this canonical Splug?

Klynncryth(Phaseworld)---Current holder of the Splugorth enclave in Center, and arguably the wealthiest Splugorth in the THree Galaxies(due to the Center trade), but will it be enough to satisfy him?

More fan Splugs:

Sessynyl---Young Splugortb upstart who sought to take advantage of Splynncryth's preoccupation with the Atlantic region of Rifts Earth, and set up a powerbase in the remains of Hawaii, hoping to build up enough power in the Pacific region to defy Splynncryth when the time came...Was wiped out by combined New Navy and North American forces, but rumor has it the Earth forces had covert help from Splynncryth who was eager to rid himself of the young snot....Supposedly Sessynyl was killed by a New Navy Tomahawk strike on his defiantly named 'New Splynn'(actually the remains of Honolulu), but other reports have him fleeing transdimensionally to nurse his wounds and ego.

Yoncrythll---Another young upstart Splugorth who seeks to make a name for himself and undermine Naruni Enterprises by emulating their ways and beating them at their own game...selling weapons and vehicles, as well as producing knock-offs of other people's technology and magic...Regarded as something of a heretic for focusing primarily on technology, and actually PAYING his workers(admittedly, low wages, but it's still pay, and not open enslavement), Yoncrythll is looked down upon by most Splugorth, and openly despised by many(especially after he began dumping designs though exclusively Splugorth on the open market). Generally, Yoncrythll has to make quick, extravaganza stops, big-top tent sales, and runs, rather than maintain permanent showrooms in all but the most secure locations, leading to jokes that buying anything from Yoncatech is like buying from the back trunk of somebody's hovertruck. Most of the established armaments companies laugh at the prospect of a Splugorth challenging them on thjeir own turf, and joke that the Splugorth's mere presence in an area drives up sales of their own goods, but the mystique of buying previously excusive Splugorth and Kittani items, often at 15-20% below their usual prices, has a certain appeal of its own. Naruni Enterprises, though publicly dismissive of the Splugorth trying to copy their success, has privately begun stepping up its monitoring of the upstart, especially after a surge of Naruni knock-offs with certain Kittani and Kydian stylings has appeared on the market.

Actually 'Yoncrythll' came about because I wanted to extrapolate an alternate future/universe MadHaven that would see a rebirth of its old openness....diminished ghost activity, and a surge in population....Yoncrythll was going to be among several unusual parties wanting in on the groundfloor of what promised to become a major port city....He was going to be offering the MadHavenites a sweet deal on hardware, in part to thumb his nose at the Splynncryth enclave on Long Island...so Yoncrythll actually comes more from 'Yonkers' than anything else(...groan....)

As for dialects? Well, Splugorth tend to regard themselves as nations unto themselves, so it wouldn't be unusual to see/hear, and be able to distinguish various Splugorth clans by their speech and mannerisms(especially among the upper echelon suck-ups)...and some extremist Splugorth make even their personal communicative eccentricities their imperial standard(it's not as if they had a nun in their childhoods rapping them on the tentacles for poor grammar...)...Though this proved particularly trying for the Minions of a Splugorth with a very pronounced psionic lisp....

A few notes on Yoncatech and the realm of Yoncrythl

*Nobody knows where his main base of operations is...he has a home system, but anybody who's travelled to it claims he can't possibly be supporting a major industrial operation there, with the relatively small production works he's got there...suggesting that he's got one or minion species unique to his realm that he's keeping secret, and using as the base labor force for his operations, and possibly access to a dimension or two where he's hiding his factories.

*Yoncrythl runs his business like a paranoid Wall Street firm.,..in emulating the Naruni, he knows he's stepping into a completely different sort of sharkpool, one the megacorps and military-industrial complexes know better than the Splugorth, and those same companies are all too happy to take on a Splugorth challenger on their turf. So in addition to knocking off his competitor's tech, Yoncrythl is also heavily into industrial espionage, and has supposedly enlisted a whole new cadre of Minions specifically for the task...including shapeshifters, ghosts, and hackers(both technological and psychic).

*Yoncrythl is torn about offering up an interview to the Splugorth-owned Network Omni New....An interview would mean openning up the possibility of lots of much-needed advertizing, but it would also mean subjecting his company to the terrorizing scrutiny of NON's investigative reporters. Cybbysscryth is aware of Yoncrythl as a younger Splugorth with ideas, but hasn;t paid much attention to him until he gets more active and involved in galactic affairs, at which point he'll send a few reporters out to dig into Yoncatech...THis could go either way; if Yoncrythl steps forward to be interviewed, it will get over the shock of initial contect with the press that much sooner, but if he waits too long, the attention he'll get will likley be of a sort and at a time not of his choosing.

*Yoncatech offers up altered versions (slight differences in styling, tweaks in range, damage, and payload, added features like sights or underbarrel mounts...or lower powered/payloaded versions that cost considerably less) of standard Kittani/Kydian weapons, as well as knockoff versions of the power armors and mystic armors....A hot seller is a line of light, skintight padded leotard and bodysuit armors based on the Altaran Warrior Womens' suits, offering 20-60 MDC....Prices for products like the Armor Amulets are still high, but Yoncrythl is trying to come up with a cheaper, less powerful version.
But what's really going to yank NE's chain is the line of Naruni knockoffs---Yoncrythl likes the whole 'giant looming gunbarrel' look and has had his Kittani and Kydian techs start making e-clip powered weapons with that same big-bore look, in addition to straight knockoffs of the plasma cartridge system.
Magic weapons are still expensive through Yoncatech, but Yoncrythl is starting to offer cheap magic weaponry...not as powerful as biowizard or rune weaponry, but still decent for the price...Either Yoncatech has lucked into a cheap means of producing magic items, or else Yoncrythl is buying up and reconditioning salavged weapons from battlefields out-dimension.
Ships and heavier hardware are also up for sale, and it's rumored that Yoncrythl is even producing an 'export' version of the Dragon DReadnought(sure to give other Kittani conniptions). Typically sales of such big ticket items are made through arranged meetings, then delivery is made in an outer system or desert system location...Yoncrythl isn't about to leave inventory exposed on a planetary surface where his enemies can spot and destroy him.

I could probably tie in the Mordor-class as a Yoncatech product....it would start giving the yutz some serious firepower if he's planning on taking on the big guys in a manner befitting a Splugorth....

NOw, just rereading Pantheons of the Megaverse and remembered the little plot by parties unknown to hire Eros to get Hera and a Splugorth in bed with each other...Hmmm, should we start picking out a sap(Splugorth) already?

Those are some cool details. :ok:
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"

"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

"As you will it, your Grace."

Well, I hope to expand on this guy....He's not all sweetness and light, and he does have some plans besides making a fast buck and tweaking the noses of the Naruni...

For one, he's very interested in how a race like the Naruni, who are individually far weaker than the average Splugorth, have managed to be such a thorn in their side for so long....Vampire Intelligences the Splugorth can understand, but business men like the Naruni? They should be dead already, ground under the heels of Splugorth minions!

Another factor in his plans is that besides blatantly ripping off and repackaging Naruni and rival Splugorth technology for sale under his own brand name, Yonci's covertly producing more or less PERFECT copies of Naruni weaponry(often using equipment his agents have stolen) and smuggling them onto Splugorth slave worlds to arm the slave population...this allows him to destabilize his rival Splugorth, while at the same time making it look like a Naruni operation...then, later, Yonci can either swoop in later and take over the distracted Splugorth's kingdom, assist a desperate colleague, or sell more guns to the triumphant rebels...Another twist to the scheme is that if Naruni denies it to the affected Splugorth, more plants make it look like the guns came off Hartigal production lines...Yonc's perfectly willing to play Naruni and Hartigal off against each other, though he'll covertly side with Hartigal, figuring that Naruni is the bigger threat to his business interests, and he can always take over Naruni/Hartigal sales territory later, after they've beaten each other into comas...

Yonc may be much nicer to little beings(in order to court their business) like a good capitalist, but he's still a scheming Splugorth at heart...

Speaking of backelors. Wouldn't you think a mating splogorth would chase all of the native life away for years, if not cause them to become extinct. Maybe that's what happened to the dinosaurs. :D

All that PPE release...gotta be a real head-trip....
Unfortunately, one gets the impression that in the Palladium megaverse, there are a lot of malicious entities who feel that killing is an aphrodisiac...
Which makes the entity equivalent of 'Club Med' a place to avoid...either it's a warzone, some other living hell, or a soon-to-be disaster area.

On the Tracker:
Unknown Splugorth requiring Identification: The scuba-diving Splugorth on the title page of Rifts Atlantis 2.
I personally don't think it's Splynncryth.

Heck that would allow them to remake a lot of films by using clones! And slightly before that, they could actually teach the clones of some of the performers to actually act!

The films that were never made, as well....

And you KNOW the Splugorth ain't going to tolerate either the Actors' or the Scriptwriters' Unions...That's what captive Ryllians are for...

But those that do great, the actors and actresses get to do more films. Of course the first flop........... Mean dinner is served! Talk about an actor/actress getting a stage fright. There is the reason to get it!

Of course, there will be the modellers trying to get closer for pictures for reference...

Never attend a Splugorth gathering, then, unless you have access to high ground, or have a fully sealed environmental suit(and/or inflatable raft).
