Detroit is a case of being too perfect for a dark game setting. You'll probablly wind up making it seem like a nicer place than it is!

Out of the ones given, New York, because I've been there and would be mildly familiar with the environment. In addition, Google Earth would come in real handy.

Otherwise I'd go with a location closer to home: Minneapolis, MN (actually the Twin Cities). Since I've lived there, visit the cities quite often, and it's always cool to base a campaign in an area the players are intimately familiar with.

Out of the ones given, London England.

However, my preferred city is Chicago IL because I lived there for a nearly a decade and know all of the crazy weird history that CJ never touched on. Chicago and the greater Chicagoland area are loaded with ghosts. This is the home of Resurrection Mary and the Archer Avenue ley line. Harpo Studios is haunted by the spirits from the Eastland sinking. The ghosts of the Tsavo lions on display in the Field Museum are said to wander its halls after hours, as is that of an Egyptian mummy that is on display there. Al Capone still makes his presence known on a boat that was once his and the late catalog sales magnate Montgomery Ward is said to wander the mausoleum where he is entombed. And then theres the miles upon miles of unused and closed tunnels underneath the city itself. Who knows what could be hiding down there?

I think I'm going to go with setting up an English campaign based out of London.

I'll tell you this much. You could mine Chicago for gaming ideas for a decade and not run out of material.

Kyoto, Japan circa 1500 A.D. :D

Oh, of those choices.....

Rome or New York. If the setting was familiar enough for the GM, Rome, if not New York.

Uh, I'm a little confused with your polling question. Are you asking where you should stick Seattle? Why not leave it where it is? :?

We always play in our home city, because none of us are familiar enough with the bigger cities detailed in the game to pull off really believable realistic games. It would be nice to have the names of streets and key landmark buildings down for reference and have everyone be familiar with them. Using our local city info makes for a more exciting game because we can picture that building and everyone knows what we're talking about when we throw out an intersection of two main streets.

if your from ANY other big city in the world, the second you see it you'll ask "Cool, but where's the rest of it?".

You can only keep telling them "Oh it's just over that hill" for so long before you run out of hills and the gig's up.

Agreed, Seatle is definitely boring. I lived there for about a 1/2 year when I was in the Navy and was never impressed, especially considering the hype it received in the past. (Sorry Seattle natives.) The surrounding communities and terrain are pretty sweet though.

I gotta vote London. It's full of history, life, beauty...I'm a little gothic at heart and there's something that makes my black heart swoon when I think of the streets, architecture, and overall history of historic London.
There should be a specific sub-forum of the Rifts forum dedicated to the only hope for salvation of the human race, the Coalition States.

If I had to choose one, then Rome...otherwise none of the above

Toronto, Canada would be my choice.

I usually make my campaign local and incorporate people that me and my players know personally as NPC's ;) We make it kinda like a BTS game.

As for my pick I chose NY but thats just because I would like to go there and I feel like the world of NB wouldn't change it much
