Who makes ther own Original Aliens?

Unread post by gaby »

Do you only use Aliens from the Phase world books and Aliens Unlimited?

If you make your own show them?

I have made a few, but they are at home. I do make them, there are never enough since space is supposed to be infinite.

I'm hoping everyone will like the Trensik: an entire race of for-hire mercenary fighters, who are tough as nails, but not too bright.

A lucky few got to play them at last year's Open House, and will be pleased to know that they are included in Thundercloud Galaxy.

I've written up an alien species of my own. I have yet to include them in the campaign for reasons that it would only complicate it more, for me. I'm also working on another, closer to an animal then an intellegent lifeform. I have to find a flaw it has and then I think I can finish rolling a few up and throw them in to a campaign, be it mine or someone elses.

Quick queston, is Megaverse builder a better book then Phase world in the means fo rolling up aliens/D-Bees? I have looked at the book for some time thinking of ordering.

I got several dozen in the works...the time-consumer is trying to make each unique and not uber-munchkin or pathetic(unless that's their major feature).

A cooking show?

I have created literally dozens of my own alien races over the years (in addition to D-Bees for Rifts, and races for PFRPG), everything from the lone megaversal to entire thriving species.

Notably, I've created a few that exist in a Galaxy outside of the Three Galaxies, really weird aliens that don't fit the "Galactic Model" of what a race is.

Unfortunately, I don't have them ready to post here on a BBS.

I might be able to post one or two tomorrow though.

I was thinking about putting the outer galaxy races together and sending them into the Rifter.

The only thing that has prevented me from doing so is good old procrastination.

New, completely unqiue aliens?
-sigh- don't have the time to do that, cuz all the really really cool concepts have been done already :(
Variations on a theme though? THAT I do regularly..and also alter existing stuff that is PBooks cannon so they can fit into different settings better (Not all humans are built equaly y'know ;) )
My favorite 'flavour change' for a pre-existing D-B / alien race; the Holy Terrors. They all love pop-music, and are prone to break out into 'rock-opera's' at a moments notice :D
You have never truely known fear until you've seen a dozen Holy-Terrors in a line stomping and clapping in rythm to "We will rock you" JUST before they do a Hail-Marry charge towards the enemy  :?

A void in the sentient sky
I dream of fissures across the moon

race i made

Unread post by neftosis »

I made this race. I rolled way higher attributes but toned them down from supernatural.
Hope you like it.

Tsubelians

A Psionic race, these Tsubelians can be found mostly in and around Tsubeli Prime.
Shortly after becoming a space faring race, the Tsubeli found themselves joining the CCW
after getting incessantly raided by the Kreegor. The attacks stopped when Captain Chian, one of the
CCW's best tacticians, ambushed and destroyed 30 Kreegor ships in 4 days. Now only pirates and raids are common,
mostly because of the systems rich asteroid field, and proximity to Paradise 22 (owned by the renown vacationists,
Paradise Foundation.
On the home planet, Ledges and terraces 10-20 feet up protrude regularly from most houses, and establishments.
These offer more room for the colorful, tentacled Tsubelians to live and eat on. (once again way overcrowded)
A Tsubelian female is pregnant for 16 months (only shows for 8), but the average lifespan for the race is 400 years.
That coupled with sixth sense has made them a very prosperous race. 15 billion live on Tsubeli prime 90% are Tsubeli,
the other varied. In the past few decades voting led to the moving of many Tsubeli to space stations, and several colony projects are underway.
In the surrounding space, another 2 billion Tsubeli live, and many are going out into the universe,
to make a name for Tsubelians in the three galaxies, perhaps even to find the forge, and claim it as their own.

Government: True Democracy. On Tsubeli Prime every member of the race over 100
years old can cast a single vote. The people are well fed. But the planet is overpopulated,
and space colonies dot the sky and star system. Tsube 1-6 are huge stations and
colonies that use/collect and trade the rich resources of the system. The system sits well
in CCW space so they have had peace for many years.
Raiders/pirates are fairly common, because the Army is lax and usually takes bribes.

Highly Advanced Civilization: The race has recently advanced
beyond average technological limits in Robotics. They are eager to trade with anyone.

Limited Magic: The race is magic-capable, but only a
small percentage of its population, or a few nations/subcultures
know how to use magic. Wizards, magical items and
techno-wizardry are very rare, expensive and not accessible
to the population at large. The race is also a little paranoid about mages

Enlightened Imperialists: The race wishes to expand and
grow, and may resort to violence to further its ends. However.
it prefers diplomacy and economic and cultural dominance to
outright violent conquest. The later British Empire, and some
say. the so-called U.S. Empire in the 20th and 21st Centuries,
are examples of enlightened imperialism. Currently the Tsubelians are
entering a trade agreement with the Paradise Foundation for rare ore deposits and
mining rights to the vast asteroid field.

I feel their life-span is waaaaay too long. I mean, they can outlive the Astralfien Star Elves by three times, or a Human by 15 times? :-?

I like the idea of an overcrowded society. Cool. But with an average of 1500 years between generations, this race wouldn't have the same biological imperative to reproduce as say, we Humans do. We breed like rabbits because our lives are so short, and our bodies so fragile. These people don't really have those concerns. Likewise, they would perceive time very differently from us, since they have so much more of it... their fastest pace of life would seem glacial to most others (I mean, why not take out a 500 year mortgage on a house in their case?)

I would suggest you cut it down to 300 years (which is still very long-lived for most races), or come up with an very convincing reason why they live so long. Even most supernatural species can't normally live more than 1000 years.
