Costume contest.

For discussion of the Palladium Open House, both past (May 2006 & May 2007) and possible future Open Houses. Who's going, games you're running or looking to play, etc.

Moderators: Immortals, Supreme Beings, Old Ones

So, who's man, or woman, or... whatever enough?

I'm game, and beware my mad costume skills.

Costume contest.

Unread post by Warwolf »

For those of you who didn't read the GenCon report, Kevin wants to do a costume contest at next year's Open House. I just want to know how many people plan on participating.

It may come as a shock to most of those that know me, but I'm actually thinking about it. :P

I'd love to give it a shot... Most likely I won't follow through, but I really think it'd be awesome.

I wouldn't mind coming dressed as my AtB character, Rooster. Only problem is finding a horse head mask that doesn't look as goofy as this, or this.

I guess I could come as Rali (see banner below).

Look at photographs from productions of the play "Equus" for great ideas on how to render a horse mask. Half the cast plays horses, and there are a wide range of solutions I've seen, from high stylistic, to stunning detail.

Personally though, I think that second pic you linked could be quite intimidating if combined with some fatuiges, or with a couple of bandoliers strapped across your chest. I mean honestly, if you saw somebody coming down the street like that, wouldn't you freak a bit?

Yeah, no doubt about it. Brings visions of the POed Easter Bunny video.

..I actually brought this up last year before the first Open House, but time constraints kept me from working on it.

..I won't be able to make the Open House next year, but plan to attend the third one (there has to be more to come). That gives me 21 months to perfect my Deadboy Armor designs.

..I've also thought about doing a Ley Line Walker outfit, it should be pretty easy, and for myself the most realistic costume would be a Crazy.

I won't be attending but think the Juicer from the first Rifts Main Book would be about the easiest to make and look book authentic. IMO. The JA-11 might be hard to make look book authentic.

Were I to come across the money for what I have in mind, I could pull off a Wolfen Legionnaire. Well - I'm only 6 feet tall, so maybe a Diamond Point Coyle member of the army instead, but you get the idea. Main issue is if I do it, I want to do it right, and doing it right would cost around $850 dollars. I could pull off a simple version for like $150, but it would look like a halloween costume.

The first of what will probably be about a dozen orders necessary to attain the pieces needed for construction of my costume was sent out today.

I won't exactly be in costume... but I will be sporting my Free Worlds Council army jacket and life-sized NE-75H (which should earn me some kind of special mention).

I'd like to do a dog boy costume, but I doubt I have the time to devote to creating it. I'll poke around though, and see what I can find premade.

My next three pieces arrived today. I've still got a lot of stuff to acquire, but I now have all but one of the most expensive and specific items I need. Everything is falling into place...

..Actually, I'll probably shave my head clean before the Open House; I'm about to buzz it back off now; In my sig pic here I'm several days past due for another hair cut.

..And Crazy would be pretty easy to pull off. I might just make a bunch of Crazy Plugs and bring extras for anyone else who wants to be one...

..say, maybe I should sell them there to raise money for Palladium...

since Mr RIchards is an engineer, any outfit that allows one to sit in comfort while other people work would work as a jason richards costume.
