Oh crud....over thirty.....some are just names and some fluff, others are missing a few stats and some proprietory technology unique to their race that I haven't developed yet...others need a separate unique factor I haven't defined yet....Some of the ideas go all the way back to elementary school that I've dusted off and decided to (re) develop into something the kid in me would be agog at...Others were just doodles that I've decided to put some stats to....
Good imagination, little time or patience with myself...

I have to agree with Darkmax on that new race of your Tallismn! I think it is great!
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"

"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

"As you will it, your Grace."

Unique histories are easy....(unique)stats are hard, because always in the back of your mind is some voice calling for balance, or saying it's a copy of an existing race, nothing new here, that the race is a whimp a Flooper could knock over, or a munchkin NOBODY'S going to use/look at/take seriously....

And developing radically new technology....eyagh...

Maybe that's why the Splugorth only use a handful of ship designs or steal other peoples'...

But usually militaries will use weapons that are proven. Therefore you could use systems from other ships and gear that are current with the tech you are dealing with. Unless you have a reason to upgrade the weapons or tech. If you don't follow this sort of thoughts you could end with a power creep.

Yet technology marches on....however, the apparent progress seems indiscernable in the short term, despite what might be said about the relative 'techno-stasis' and slowing of progress in the Three Galaxies...This is like the current state of military aviation for the last 10-20 years as opposed to say, the 1950s and '60s, where interim designs between the piston and the jet age were rushed into service, and some aircraft saw operational lifespans of only 3-4 years before becoming obsolete(whereas we've currently had F-14s, F-16s, and F-18s for over a decade)...Yet policies are changing, and new trends in RPVs are coming on to the scene....

It might be only power creep in small increments that's overtaking the Three Galaxies, as the major powers like the CCW and TGE try to stay ahead of each other and those races who are catching up technologically or buying from somebody else...or newer technologies, not necessarily in firepower, may be cropping up, like drone starships, or stealth, or intermeshed command and control, that will fundamentally change space combat...again...

I'd still say that you should look at the US military for it's leaps and bounds. They are about to do a major technological jumps in the various services. I'd say you are right that those tech jumps might be incremental or else they might choose to improve all at once in one of their services.

I guess vampire intelligences neatly fit into that role, just
as second stage prometheans.

Vamps don't have any real long range plans besides suck blood and take over as much property as they can...As much as the Vampire/Splugorth rivalry has been talked up, I don't see the bloodsuckers as having the sort of concerted effort to wipe out their Splugorth rivals as I see the Splugorth having...
THough maybe the techno-harvesting vampires in Mexico might be a taste of the future...

Besides, if (at least some) vampires do not have
intelligence, and planning throught centuries, the
whole "vampire feeling", originating from Stoker
is ruined.

So master and secondary leeches are more than
insticnt driven corpses.

I'm thinking that somewhere in the past the Vampires lost their bid for megaversal supremacy, much as the Splugorth did, and were shattered as a single force(I have a possible history and a race/species in mind, because the Splugorth didn't do it, otherwise they'd be crowing about it for millenia), and have since been divided up into individuals concerned only with their own self-interest...
