CCW laws & the supernatural

Unread post by Nxla666 »

One of my players asked me what the CCWs laws would be concerning supernatural predators like vampires and werewolves, and my response (after a couple minutes mulling) was that they were "probably" considered dangerous creatures that were destroyed on most worlds.

Anybody else have an ideas?

Vampires: definitely. In the most humane worlds the authorities
maybe "just" stake them (or put them in another kind of suspended
animation) until a cure can be found, IF they can capture them
safely.

Werecritters... They are not controlled by an AI, do not need
human blood or flesh for sustenance (thought they like it).

So, IMO CCW dislikes them, authorities put a tracking device on them,
etc, but not normally shot on sight (if no crimes are comitted!).

Vampires are definitely going to get wiped out... I see it like the CDC coming in with a corps of CAF Troopers to contain and eradicate a viral outbreak. Kind of like 28 Days Later but with lasers...

"Lycans"? Probably wouldn't hang around Consortium worlds unless they were planning on eating the populace... so only those were creatures that have it coming are likely to become CAF targets.

The Consortium has very little magic, and so even a few of these things could wipe out a colony of hundreds, prompting a large and heavy response.

Werecritters cannot be cured... It is not an infectous
stuff like vampirism - werecritters are born that way.

So that is why they have their chance - but
authorities are quite trigger-happy with them.

------------
By the way, while the CCW is not noted for their
magical means, they are quite rich in psionic
"resources" - Noros, Faustians, Iborians, and
the Psilite "technology"... So a bolt from a crystal
bolt pistol, useable by the one quarter of the
human and wolfen populace (and 100% of the Noros,
and other psionic races) will smear your average
werewolf all over the colony.

Nope. In the Palladium Megaverse, lycanthropy is not
an infectious curse, like in European mythology.

Werecreatures are born to be werecreatures, not
infected by a bite...
