Joysin 4 A planet I made up . . . Long story short
So I finished the write up for this planet . . . computer craps out on me before i can post it so here it is in the shortened version
Location - Thundercloud galaxy
Powerblock - CCW
Status - Uninhabited \ Quarantine
History - Once upon a time Joysin 4 was a world inhabited by an advanced but pre-lightspeed society. Scientists discovered the genetic coding for happiness. They created a virus (Bliss-Virus it would be called) that would rewire people so they would be happy. Virus was made to be super contangious and airborne. It quickly spread across the world ending all war and strife within a few years. A few years after that everyone died. The Bliss-Virus was too successful, it eventually made it so the only emotion anyone could feel was happiness. The entire population was eventually happy to die of thirst.

I would also add:
Shortly after the fate of Joysin 4 reached the Council, the entire system was declared Restricted Class Beta by the ruling body. This rating has a standard penalty of 20 to 50 standard years in prisonment and a fine of up to one million credits. The location of the syetm is a closely guarded secret, to prevent the unscrupulous from contracting the virus & spreading it to the CCW worlds. Although many learned beings believe the virus has long since expired, none have dared to prove it.

Reminds me of a short novel by Stanislaw Lem.
In other words, I like it.

But still, one of the most basic rules for survival on any planet is never to upset someone wearing black leather - This is why protesters against the wearing of animal skins by humans unaccountably fail to throw their paint over Hell's Angels.

Sounds like an interesting world! Wouldn't mind having my players look down at it from orbit.
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"
"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."
"As you will it, your Grace."

My thoughts exactly.
Nice concept though.
BTW 2 "e"s, 1 "i".

1. The virus should simply be called "Bliss"... there's a nice juxtaposition in having something so bad given such a lovley name.
2. Since this is clearly an adventure hook, I would have the Splugorth Kingdom of Desslyth (located in the Thundercloud Galaxy) trying to obtain a strain of Bliss for sale as a magical microbe. If they could get a hold of it, they could build it into missile warheads, and attack planets with it...

If that doesn't prompt you to buy it, I don't know what else I can say.

Substitute Bliss for paxilon-D and its the same as what Happened on Miranda, minus the Reavers that is.

Ah crap someone stole my idea in advance . . . no i'd never seen the movie. Basically the idea came from the too much of a good thing concept. There is something so sinister\evil\disturbing about the idea of someone walking into a room to find a loved one dead and the only thing they can think is 'well good for them'
The idea is that people would want to go there because
a) The "ruins" aren't ruined, since everyone died peacefully the entirety of the civilization is still basically intact.
b) Bliss would make a great weapon . . . unlike other virus's when a civilization gets infected by it they don't want to fight it off.
c) It would also be a destination world for the terminally ill, death by happiness sounds like a good way to go out.
d) Slaves who are happy to do your bidding . . . and since most supernatural beings are naturally immune to such diseases . . .

Except most supernatural monsters LIKE their slaves to be dour, depressed, easily terrified sods....they relish the negative emotions...
As the Gary Larson cartoon of Hell with the damned toiling away and one guy gleefully whistling as he works away, puts it(in the words of one of the supervising devils); "We just ain't getting through to that guy..."

It is? That is cool! I always liked the caption Larsen wrote underneath the image! I can see that being the standard.
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"
"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."
"As you will it, your Grace."
