If you follow the Kitanni robots through all their books they design weapons arround animal/insect designs. I would color it like a snake, your favorite snake but a snake. I would keep it to greens browns and black. with a few splashes of color along the back to denote venemous snakes.

I have never read anything to that effect. But the sploogorth are not know for stealth in combat.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the final product. I even think the colors are cool, kind of like your looking at a schematic or some kind of scan. Very cool!! I can't wait.
