The fact that combat mage spells are rare for starters. a battle magus would be lucky to learn two.

It does stats the Leyline walkers only would get a handful of spells and other Magic O.C.C would not get theses spells since the think they are barbaric
Well, the combat mage has the advantage of being able to learn spells 1-5 off the bat, whereas teh battle magus will be limited by levels.

I just read these two O.C.C last night and I am wondering why would someone become a combat mage when a battle magi is so much better.
The battle Magi can get the Combat Mage spells and have so many other bonuses to the O.C.C.
Just would like to know other peoples opinion or if I misses something about the combat mage
Thanks
To become a Battle Magnus is a much more involved process than becoming a Combat Mage. All of the Magnus classes from the Federation of Magic books require a much more indepth training regimen than the traditional magic study. Not that becoming a traditional mystic/mage character is easy, and is in fact an arduous task.

MAGUS. M to the A to the G to the U to the S. It means wizard. Magnus means great. It is a different word entirely, without a etymological tie.

Combat Mages are in Mercenary Adventures, and no, they're not the equal of Battle Magi. They're not supposed to be - they're more of a soldier mage, while Battle Magi are more elite and specially trained (and as others have mentioned, a lot more restricted).

I think Battle Magi are also restricted to humans. I don't know about the other one.

No, they are merely restircted to mortal SDC beings(no Rahu-Men ) But I think a Jeridu from LOTD #1 would be doable.
Have you ever been thrown out of a Rifts game for being smarter than the Game Master?
