The Mind Block trap

Unread post by mobuttu »

Hi,

Chances are this has already been discussed. Just to know the canon answer.

IIRC Mind Block not only protects from incoming psionic attacks but also impedes to its caster to use psionic powers. Does that means that Mind Block is a double edge power? Can a cyber-knight, for instance, cast Mind Block and use his psi-sword? That being true, Mind Block seems a poor choice for a psionic character, don't you thing?

THe person focusing on Mind Block CANNOT use any other psychic powers.

However, any power activated before the block goes up, remain active for their usual durations.

so a Psi Sword erated, then mind block, the psi sword would stay.

Yes.

Can a cyber-knight, for instance, cast Mind Block and use his psi-sword?

Apparently not.

That being true, Mind Block seems a poor choice for a psionic character, don't you thing?

It can be invaluable at times, but yes, I generally pick Mind Block for characters that don't have very many psionic powers.

Also, you can train yourself to not block your team mates and allies for things such as telepathic communication. I've also never heard of it preventing you from using your other psychic powers, just stop incoming minds.

Even with the lack of ISP expediture (due to special training) cyber-knight psi-sword is still a psionic power.

Nekira, as a player I can agree with your explanation, but the GM inside me screams for a more specific answer (where did you get that?).
