Sentinel Defense Werks commonly referred to as SDW has been around as long as anyone can remember, longer even then Naruni Enterprises. For centuries it has been one of the largest suppliers of low buck space based weaponry to small governments, struggling colonies, and mercenary fleets. Sentinel has never been given to the excesses of Naruni enterprises and refuses to accept “sentient compensation” (slaves) for payment. That being said they are not above making a quick credit and will still sell anything to anyone as long as they can make payment whether in cash, goods or services.
Never flashy seldom even pretty Sentinel products have always been merely adequate and consistently two to three generations from cutting edge in technology. Recently though things have changed; SDW has released new designs that rival anything in space in an apperant bid to wrest dissatisfied customers from the likes of NE and others. These new designs appeared on the market without warning a situation that has greatly alarmed executives at Naruni Enterprises and has set them to wondering just where the designs came from. Normally a new class of ships takes years if not decades to design, and as long again in prototyping. Yet somehow Sentinel managed to develop not one but over a dozen without them hearing anything about it. With growing tensions throughout the three galaxies Sentinel’s sales are growing like wild fire. Already they have had to open a half dozen new ship yards in the anvil alone just to keep up with demand.
Relations with other powers:
CCW: Officially disapproves of Sentinel Defense Werks because of its unscrupulous nature. More than one pirate fleet has been composed almost entirely of Sentinel built warships. On the other hand a great many IDF’s and colonies depend on Sentinel hardware, and they provide a great way of covertly aiding the TGE’s enemies. So they turn a blind eye for now.
TGE: Would like nothing better than to eliminate the source of a large fraction of the Free World Council and other dissidents supply of weaponry; but SDW has been careful to keep all its operations far outside of Kreeghor controlled space and an unprovoked attack would have serious political ramifacations. So for now the Kreeghor limit themselves to covert acts of sabotage, and look for other options.
UWW: Has no “official” relations with Sentinel Defense Werks although a handful of worlds are regular customers.
Free Worlds Council: Sentinel Defense Werks supplies an ever growing percentage of the council’s naval needs both directly and third hand. A situation that has been quite agreeable for everyone involved, the Council gets badly needed weaponry, Sentinel gets a fat bottom line, and the CCW get deniability.
Naruni Enterprises: Hates and despises SDW. For centuries they ignored Sentinel because they were no competition. Sentinels new line up caught them totally flat footed, and has the board of directors wondering if their spy network has been compromised, and considering taking action to restore the status quo…permenantly.
Splugorth: Sentinel Defense Werks is at best a minor annoyance, and only that because so many worlds that would be otherwise easy meat are armed by them.

Very nice! I'm looking forward to seeing some designs for them! I hope they come soon!

Somehow I can see Nicholas Cage as a front man for SDW...

I think you hit the right person on the nose Taalismn! I think his clones would be great salesmen for SDW!

"For crying out loud, why'd you just shoot that guy? Now I can't sell that plasma rifle as 'brand new'!"
