Open House 2009 thoughts

Unread post by Spinachcat »

I just bought my ticket. I am a happy goober.

POH 2007 was a blast. I am looking forward to POH 2009. I much prefer 3 full days of gaming - Fri thru Sun - with Thursday as VIP Night. In fact, "VIP Day" would be even cooler.

I would have no problem with $100 for a 4 day Palladium con. More gaming the better. The last POH went way too fast. It was more fun than GenCon.

As with 2007, I will definitely be running a few events, probably Rifts, Chaos Earth, Mechanoids or Splicers. As we get closer, I will chat with the other MAs and see what I will run.

As for the hotel, I suggest that we get everyone into one close-by place at a great price like last time. What's a few bedbugs between friends? Having official game rooms at the Ramada was terrific and I hope that happens again.

I'd go for an extra day. That'd be keen.

Hmmm, what to run next time?

This is my feeling as well. Last year Kevin had a Freelancer "gathering" on Thursday evening, a VIP night on Friday, and then the weekend. I was exhausted, but sad that it was all over already. Moving VIP night to Thursday night, then having all day events for three days is cool with me. I just have to make sure to somehow keep Allen from talking me into eating so much White Castle (that stuff's not fit for consumption, unless you were raised on it or something).

Yeah, there was this moment on Friday, I was sitting in your brother's chair chatting it up with you, when I thought "there's still two more days of this?"

About five minutes later, it was Sunday and I was saying goodbye to everyone.

There was a link in the press release. Also you can find it using the Special Items tab from the Online Store.

No, that just means that you pay me at the door... in cash... and none of that funny Canadian Monopoly Money. :demon:

Seriously though, I'm pretty sure doing the podcasts for free probably earns you admission to the Open House. :)

As far as I know, neither I nor any of the Freelancers paid admission last year. I think you're probably good.

Getting in free was a nice perk though last year. I heard horror stories about the line. :-(

In 2009 I'll be there the entire time. I'll try to get Taylor White there and other members of our gaming group, and might even bring a pretty lady friend with me if she can stand all that nerdiness.
