That sounds positively madness-inducing...

Did you have any hair left at the end of the game or was it all pulled out in huge clumps?

Considering the fact that I play a kender better than any other player I've ever known, I knew how to keep them on target. You just throw a shiny thing in one direction and half of them go after it. Leaving the other half to actually complete the quest at hand...

One rule I make sure every player of a kender understands: You do not control your natural abilities. You can use them at will, but so can I. Kender wind up taunting, stealing, and sneaking, whether they mean to or not.

After putting it all together I came up with a big problem and I don't know if it's something I did wrong (math has never been my strong suit) or just a quirk in the system itself.

Using the Frostblade spell (no secondary) and a 2-carat garnet for a 4th-level device I came up with an activation cost of 30 P.P.E.!

But the cost to cast the Frostblade spell is only 15 P.P.E.!

So, did I do something wrong? Or should I just throw more garnets at the device until the activation cost drops?

You messed up the math. Construction Cost = Total Spell Cost x (Device Level x 10) / Carats of Primary Spell Gems, or 300 P.P.E. in this case (15 x 40 = 600; 600 / 2 = 300). Activation Cost = Construction Cost / 20, or 15 P.P.E.
There you go man, keep as cool as you can.
