Mwhua ha ha ha ha ha! I have hidden an ultra-powerful laser cannon on the moon. At my whim, I can call down firey death! The world shall be mine to command. I shall call it my death star and reign supreme over the mere mortals on this puny planet! :Cough: I mean, orbital weaponry? Why would I have those?

Soitently! First things first, all criminals shall be given a free tag implaneted into their lungs. This tag shall not only allow us to track them wherever they go, but to constrict their air passages, insuring their non-lethal incapacitation if they escape or if they are found to have gone back to their lives of crime. For repeat offenders, I will have a nice little pointless-work farm built in the middle of the dessert. A nice little place where the 'workers' will do nothing other than dig holes and fill them in, day in, day out for the rest of their lives. And if they don't meet the quota for holes dug and filled, they get put on half-rations for the next day.

Secondly, I shall make it mandatory for every person currently living in the US to buy at least ONE Palladium book, and hold masive tournements in place of sporting events. It would be way more resource efficient than say NASCAR, and just imagine the looks on the players faces when they're issued a set of regulation dice...

Third, I shall have my Secret Service members dress up as clowns, for no other reason than that it would be funny as all Hades to see that.

Fourth, I would cut off welfare unless the person could prove that they had been out looking for a job.

Fifth, I would bring back a lot of the old medival style punishments. Like floggings, PUBLIC floggins, and the stocks. Not things like amputations, just lots of those punishments that deal with humiliation and embaressing the culprit.

Sixth, all internet sites would be reworked. Those with non-family friendly content would go to special sites that could only be accessed with providing your social-security number (or some other government issued id, not full sure on this idea yet, not quite ripe yet).

Finally of the ideas off of the top of my head, I would offer tax breaks to big businesses if they provide large donations to homeless shelters and soup kitchens.

That's all I got for the moment. vaya can huevos! :Leaps onto the back of my trained attack moose and scampers off: Viva Le Cheese!

I can confirm there was some sort of universal oddity over here in Racine, Wi. I heard a politician tell the truth. It was Roscoe! He's not corrupt! He also very honest! Please vote for Roscoe!!!! :D

What if Roscoe Del'Tane became President with his VP Cthulu!

I thought that might open some eyes! :D

I would like my own Dukedom for helping put him into power. I'd like to have Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota and the Upper Penisula of Michigan. :D

As far as another member of Roscoe's staff. How about Claudia Christensen as his Secretary of Entertainment.

Speaking of Alternate Dimensions.

Has any besides me ever noticed how much Moe of The Three Stoogies really, really, really looked like Hitler the times he dressed as him?

That would have been a great universe to be from. Instead of trying to kill people vicously, Moe's Hitler would have tried to kill them with yucks and guffaws!

Seeking to turn the Nazi tide against the Polish Ghetto Uprsing, Jewish elders trigger a minor Rift Event, raising magic levels across Europe and triggering a number of natural disasters. An army of golems appears and sweeps out the city of Warsaw, annihilating the SS units sent to to quell the uprising...

By 1944, Poland has again risen, bolstered by the Army of New Zion, and clashes between the Germans, who are ramping up their propoganda to INSANE levels, and the Polish, who are no convinced it's all or nothing...The Allies are standing back, trying to make sense of what's happened, but are also running as much weaponry as they can to Poland...Russia, however, is sitting back, after annihilating the German units caught in their territory, and letting the Polish and Germans maim each other, while they send agents to figure out how the Polish Jews pulled the trick off...while watching their own populace uneasily...

If anyone remembers the Lord Darcy novels, that had an Imperial Poland that was the foreign enemy of the magic-capable British Empire...The POles had pretty much beaten down the backwards Russians, and had squeezed western Europe into polarization between either supporting the double-eagle or allying with Britain...

Scientists at NASA (for Nightbane/HU, or Mutants in Orbit organization for Rifts) wait with anticipation as the latest space probe nears the edge of our solar system, sent out to examine the new 10th planet. It takes its images and sends them back, scientists are eagerly beginning examination when communication is lost with the probe. Another probe is redirected that way, and it sends back images of debris from the first probe, not long before it also ends transmission.

It seems something is destroying the probes.

Two alternatives:
The scientists have made fools of themselves, there is nothing beyond our solar system, at X distance from the sun space ends in a black wall extending all the way around Sol. The stars and galaxies and such that scientists have been seeing through their telescopes are actually reflective spots left by meteor impacts reflecting the sun's light, etc. The reason this wasn't discovered by previous probes is that the previous probes had lesser power sources and weren't designed to survive past our solar system and maintain communication with us...

OR

The probes have been slamming into the inside wall of an alien built Dyson sphere that goes completely around our solar system serving dual purposes: to harvest our solar energy, and to contain the annoying apes before they discover FTL travel. The inside of the sphere is nearly indestructible, but if the Earth sends ships with weapons or the capability of mining through, drone fighters and/or automated weapon systems will come alive and blast anything that moves.

LostOne; have you read David Brin's River of Time anthology?
Has two good short stories along similar lines: 'Crystal Spheres', about vast crystalline enclosures that keep developing life-worlds from being colonized from outside, and 'Senses Five and Six' about a man who knows about a vast conspiracy to break a blockade set by an elder race on the younger peoples of the cosmos...

Excellent alternate universe!

How about this one.

The US postal service is always on time and underbudget! Never having to raise their postal rates.

The UN POstal Service is a global politically neutral courier service that it is anathema and illegal to interfere with. Postal couriers are trained as armed paladins with the legal power to shoot their way through trouble to deliver the mail...

Once more, I have had an Ambush of Ideas, so here we GO!

Blind Boys: Due to a freak genetic quirk, humanity is physically able to see more than 50 feet in any direction (even with mechanical or magical augmentation). Travelling by anything other than your own feet never catches on ("AAAAAAH! How do I stop this crazy animal?"). The transporting of goods never catches on, most foods and drink don't evolve, as the needed spices and such are unable to be gathered and transporerted before they go bad.

Elders DO know best: As one gains in age, one alse gains vastly powerful, but subtle psionic and magical powers. Their thoughts and views will gradually effect the surrounding area (10 miles when they hit sixty, half a mile every two months after that). The longer a person stays in the area of influence, the greater the changes are possoble, and the faster they happen. The manipulation will be able to affect living things as well as innanimate objects, the only thing the Elder cannot effect is themselves. So they can literally rewrite the world around them to reflect as they wish, leading to children and grandchildren to dote on the old farts, in hopes of not being willed into something else..

Loose Legs (Just because I'm listening to the King at the moment): Every third person legs are slightly off kilter, resulting in people doing the 'Elvis Strut" (as my mom call it), that thing where their legs swivel back and forth as if they are having a seizure.

Malicious Moo-Moos: Cows developed a global Gestalt Intelligence in the 1930's, and have cunningly plotted their revenge on humanity for COLD HANDS DURING MILKING! Their milk now causes either cancer of the fingers and knees, or unncontrollable explosive flatulence. Let the drinker beware...
You'd be suprised at what the G.M. will allow with a little blackmail and bribery...

Everyone dresses like a rebel, leather jackets, etc. Pick the coolest rebel character you can think of and everyone dresses like that character.

The "cool" guys on this world...glasses taped across the nose, pocket protectors, slide rules, suspenders, tucked in button down shirts, buck teeth, snorts when they laugh, etc.

All great term papers are padded, LostOne, don't quibble...

Europe never gains ascendancy in the world, instead:
The Khabiri Confederation is a high-tech coalition of states that started in the Middle East, and expanded into all of Europe, following the devtastation of that region by plague. The early discovery of oil, combined with the assimilated ingenuity of the Greeks, leads to an Industrial Revolution in the Med region...Mathematics and the pursuit of certain schools of logic overcome religious doctrine as the guiding force in inquiries into natural sciences, so that applied science(technology) is not handicapped by theology.
The Khabiri Confederation has an ‘Arabian Nights’-air to it of opulence and
Islam is the main religion, but like Christianity, the main religion has splintered into a variety of divergent sects, with the more moderate forms being the mainstream. Society still revolves around aristocratic and feudal orders in the various nation-states of the Confederation, but a growing middle-class of merchant-aristocrats is altering the order of things into constitutional aristocracies. However, the word of local viziers and mullahs is still weighted more heavily in the courts.
The Khabiri Confederation’s main rivals for world power are the Han Commune, a greatly expanded communist China that is the Confederation’s continental rival. In North America, the Khabiri and the Han are fighting a war-by-proxy using the Empire of the New Sun(Aztecs), the Ascendancy(Incas), and the Northern Federation(Upper North American Indians) engaged in a struggle for supremacy for the Western Hemisphere.
Khabiri Confederation---Dominates the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. Contests Central Asia, Australia, and the Indian Ocean with the Han Commune. Also supports the Northern Federation.
Han Commune---Controls Eastern Asia, Japan, India, and has enclaves in Australia and Western North America. Has supported the Empire of the New Sun in the past, but material support has been waning, as the Empire grows more and more erratic.
Empire of the New Sun---Controls all of Central America, and a large portion of South-West North America. They seek expansion into South America, see the Carribean as their private pond, have major bases in Cuba, and have been supporting guerilla wars in the Confederation states of Africa, appealing to traditionalist religions there.
Ascendancy--Most of South America. Is bitterly contesting Venezuela and Columbia with the Empire of the New Sun.
Northern Federation---Northern and Eastern parts of North America, and Northern Europe(Scandanavia). Contesting possession of Alaska, British Columbia, and west coast with Han Commune, Texas-region and Gulf Coast with Empire of New Sun. Nominally allied with Confederation.

The nations are all high-tech powerhouses; the American powers slightly behind the Han and Khabiri...The Commune and the Confederation have both armed and aided the Empire and Federation/Ascendancy respectively in the past.
Slavery is legal in the Empire of the New Sun, Ascendancy, and Khabiri Confederation, with varying degrees of human rights applicable to owned persons...In the New Sun, slaves can be harshly punished for the slightest of infractions, and are often ritually put to death(sometimes the reason why they were made slaves in the first place). In the Ascendancy, treatment is slightly less harsh, but at least slaves don’t get their hearts ripped out for the Sun Festival(however, labor gulags in Now-Continua Bolivia and Chile are harsh). In the Confederation, slaves can be bought, sold, and transferred at will, but strict rules regulate the treatment of slaves(similar to the policies of the Greeks), with penalties levelled against masters who have mistreated their slaves. Stasis technology is often used in the slave trade; the Empire stockpiles slaves for mass-ritual sacrifices, while the Confederation uses stasis to store manpower reserves and to facilitate the transfer of slave-stock. The Commune supposedly uses stasis-tech to store vast sleeping armies in reserve, while the Federation uses stasis-tech only for space travel. Slavery is NOT permitted in the Federation and in the Commune.
The nations of this Earth are spacetravelling, though FTL has not yet been developed...The Confederation and the Commune are the biggest and most powerful starfaring nations, fielding large interplanetary warfleets to secure their domains, and both have launched large-scale extra-solar colonization efforts, using sleeper-, generation-, and rellativistic-torchships. The Empire is next in military power, though they can barely afford the expensive operations they regularly carry out, usually raids against the Federation and Ascendancy space operations, but they also have begun attacking their former patrons, the Han Commune. The Northern Federation is noted for their asteroid mining operations, and water-launches from highly mobile launch platforms on Earth(at least until runway-to-space shuttlecraft were perfected). The Ascendancy is the low one on the totem, but makes a tremendous amount of money renting its launch facilities to other nations.
Mars is controlled by the Confederation, but Venus is being terraformed by the Commune. The Federation, with Confederation help, is fighting the Empire for control of the Jovian moon system. The Ascendancy has claimed Titan(but the Confederation is contesting this claim).

Great one Taalismn! A lot of detail.

Bermuda trianga is a known dimension nexus allowing access to and from earth to many various dimensions. This allows interdimensional trade to occur. Technology level overall is increased tremendously. Magic is reintroduced to our earth.

Something I'm doing in my Nightbane game:

The Pharoahs of Egypt were actually Nightbane, mega-heroes or other powerful RCCs, as were the Olympians. Supernaturals posing as gods.

Interesting new alternate universes!

An alien being who ressembles a purple glove with legs and his crew end up meeting Emperor Prosek. In doing so they convince Prosek into giving up everything and following the extrememly sexy companion.

Tripping the Rift meets Rifts. Although I'd think Prosek would get along better with the the badguy (the Dark Clown).

Splicer tech is stolen by an alien race that is dying. Their evolution has given them powerful psychic minds, but their bodies are very frail and can barely support their huge heads. The newest generation is so weak that after a few weeks of life there is a 100% mortality rate, they need something to enhance their physical bodies. Advance the timeline a few millenia. This race is now powerful psychics and physical warriors coming to conquer earth. They reproduce by cloning, and at birth are immediately given a few Biotic enhancements and then put into an infant sized host armor, and never leave the armor. By age 5 they are incapable of leaving the armor, the two have melded into a single being and separating them forcibly would kill both. Mind-Melter Biotic Dreadguards from hell. Prosek is going to soil himself.

Britain is never able to defeat Scotland, nor Ireland, and the British Empire never arises from the combined nations....Spain and France arise as the major world/colonial powers, but spend more time savaging each other in increasingly bitter continental wars(usually fought in 'proxy' territories like easter Europe and Africa...

I was actually trying not to say that LostOne..... :D Besides I was thinking of Six. She could convert Prosek!

How about this.

Ireland developes technology way before every other culture. They sweep the earth under in their advance. But they also keep their problems. These of course become the worlds big problems too.

Prosek is hiding a deep dark secret...He and his family are actually dark mages, using their talents to mask their powers and consolidate their grip on power.....They're using the Coalition to eliminate the competition, reap massive amounts of death PPE, and set up the strongest human nation for a series of bloodbaths that will rival the Fall of Atlantis in carnage..The massive population centers of the CS are being set up as massive killing grounds when the time comes....

The world is shocked as the 2008 provides a terriffing results as Cthulu is elcted and actually manifests himself to lord it over the world. His vice president is the first female vice president. He is elected for a second term with a different vice presidental partner after his first one if eaten in office for being stupid. The second vice president is another female. After his second term Cthulu goes into retirement. He writes his autobiolgraphy and converts to catholicism because he realises his is not the evilest being in the universe after being president of the United States. Later in life he is declared a saint for all of his charitable work.

The Earth is encircled, as long as anybody remembers/history records, by a massive artificial ring at geosynchronous altitude, and roughly about 2 miles thick...The appearance of this object throughout history skews perceptions of the heavens, leads to multiple religions, and beliefs...
Ultimately, a space race to see who is first to reach the Ring and discover its secrets breaks out on Earth...

Cool alternate universe!

Terrorism become far worse after events which lead to the global war on terror. Civilian causalities rise at a nightmarish levels. The world powers redouble there efforts to stop the terrorist. This leads to the early arrival of the Rifts.

Beyond the Supernatural Setting: Extremists manage to trigger a release of demons(MInion War tie-in?) that gets out of their control...Of course, there's chuckleheads who are quick to blame this on the West, but that hardly helps the fact that demons are now roaming around destroying...Pure faith isn't enough to stop them...modern weapons do marginally better..Now the world has to deal with a new category of WMDs....DEMONS...

Suddenly the great lakes start flooding out of their basins as they are connected to an elemental plane of water. As the US is flooding it is revealed to be a terrorist plot. Of course they laugh as the us drowns, but don't know how to shut it off. The earth becomes a water world!

For Nightbane or HU:

September 11: The attacks were far worse than in the real world. The terrorists somehow managed to smuggle nukes onboard the planes, and instead of ramming buildings the nukes were detonated over the major cities. Air detonation = bigger blast radius and wider EMP radius.

Majority of DC and New York are gone, taking much of the USA's political leadership with it. Chaos ensues as US citizens riot in the streets, looting is rampant. After the dust settles, the US is left with someone so far down the chain of command that only political analysts have heard of the guy. Weak leadership from someone not expecting to be president and having inexperienced advisors leads America into a downward spiral. USA loses its status as a world power.

Dirty bombs instead of straightforward nukes...kills more in the long run...

But I think George was junketing at the time of 9:11..safely out of D.C....

ANYWAYS...

American religious fundamentalist rises to power in the aftermath, playing the Security and Ultra-Conservative ticket(even though he's radically liberal enough to want a suspension of the Bill of Rights)...NOW we're in REAL trouble...

Because of the suspension of the "Bill of RIghts." America is so polarized it begins a new civil war. But the ultimate winners are the terrorist who watch America destroy itself as they watch and do nothing.
