Haven't you basically posted this same thing several times in multiple forums in slightly differently worded ways?

It is really up to each and every GM. I'm for running it the way it set up. And that is the way I've run it. I stick with it being up to each GM to determine their own path.

"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

I agree that it is completely up to each individual GM, there is no way to make a "Final Word" on it given how it lends it self to both settings or any setting for that matter.

I play it in phase world, MDC weapons and space craft. SDC creatures.

Petrified wood just because we could.

I also use it in Phase World setting. It works nicely there.

Does it really matter? SDC / MDC / BFD?

If you are firing MDC weapons at PCs, then they need MDC armor or your game ends quickly. If the enemies have MDC armor, the PCs need MDC weapons or the game falls apart. So whatever the PCs are (either SDC or MDC) determines the main DC type of the setting.

While a mix/match of SDC / MDC may be fun for a one shot, it does not make sense for a fun game. And nothing is even remotely more important that the game being fun.

That said, I like explosions and when people shoot SDC buildings with MDC weapons, I enjoy bringing those buildings down.

personally the MDC system is well balanced yes it makes it dangerous to unarmored Humans and other squishies but it does make sense and it has has just as much playtesting as the SDC system.

And the MDC system has been around over 22 years. I've used it since I first picked up my first Palladium game....Robotech. We'll just have to do what each of us wants in each of our own games.

They still are! :D I have a lot of great memories from back then. And I'm still looking forward to generating more good ones before the end! :D

You could always look on line and maybe you could find them. I have seen those books at used book stores.

Well the thing is Palladium Fantasy and Robotech aren't that far apart in age. both came out fairly close to each other. I lost my copy of PF first ed so I can't quote exact year but I think that PF came out something like 83 and the first RT book came out like late 85 early 86.

Now in a multi Genre setting there are many ways to fix such things. One if you take MDC into an SDC environs like a rifts character into HU then you all his stuff converts over to SDC (doesn't make sense but it is a balance thing not a logic thing) now to make it a bit more logical you could say that his weapons and armor (all his MDC gear) does/has double (or triple if your feeling nice and the game is higher powered) damage/damage capacity.

With SDC coming into MDC worlds it can be a bit more difficult. But that is when they either through Means of Magic (Magic (be it spell weapon or whatnot) will do MDC in Most MDC worlds. Robotech is one where yeah it should for balance but also arguements could be placed for it not because of extremely low magic levels). Or by getting higher tech gear.

I note your opinion LV! And the way you state it is a good way to state it. I'm keeping mine the way it is. I perfer it that way.
