Re: Paladin Steel 80mm ‘Pulverizer’ Super-Heavy Shotgun
range seems excessive (not that most of it does not seem excessive) I like the concept of multi ammo weapons and am trying to work a few into my equipment, but I am not sold on this yet.
btw, how long till the paladin steel netbook?

Whatever works for you...it's a light SPG with the ability to defend itself, but it can also hunt tanks...

Then cut the range to 1,000 ft...still better than most shotguns, but now it's more of a grenade launcher...
The whole concept, though, is of a cutdown artillery piece for those super-strong people who just HAVE to have the Shotgun From Hell... One of those absurd weapons likely to exist only on Rifts Earth...
Since infantry portable mortars run up into the 180mm range, I'm sure some cyborgs have tried hefting one and firing it like a one-shot launcher just for kicks(and like the mis-translated Japanese 'knee mortar' of WW2, it's NOT a good idea...as many U.S. servicemen who tried it and ended up with broken legs, discovered).

Re: Kitbash Vehicles--Paladin Steel ONTOS II
On arming a Buzzball, I have a picture that I printed from somewhere on the web, cannot remember where. So I cannot give you a link to see it. Name is Orb-driven Cruiser?. The finished center piece has a round sphere in the middle of a car looking body. Has fins on rear of body, weapon on a mast like "turret", driver compartment is just in front of sphere. Thumbnails show some other forms all 'floating' over the single orb:
a chair sitting on an orb
Heavy armored and armed body covering an orb
there are more but i will have to find the sheet.
The easy way to arm the Buzzball would be with a crown with fixed weapons and side pods. Using normal tech. Magic and DBee strangest...adds other possibles and needs "intense contemplation"

Taking a high-low approach to PS production and marketing...you got high-end borderline munchkin weaponry and you got all the lower-level, lower cost, 'component' stuff that can be bought in numbers/bulk...something for everybody...Think the MDC and firepower on some PS products is too high? Well, then look at some of our lower-end goods that should meet your budget and GMing needs...

I think that on the www.drakroastedblend.com webste they had some ideas for a WW1-era 'battleball' that could be rolled across the barbed wire and trenches...
I also recall a speculative technology sketch for a giant uni-tire moon rover that had a large centarl spheroid hull, with the wheel running in a polar position, and had an enormous solar parasol/solar array overhead...
I wonder if Heinlein had seen that picture, because in 'The Cat That Walks Through Walls', he has a lunar terrorist band driving a moon rover that's one enormous wheel, with gun positions on gyrostablized 'sideboards' sticking out from the center-hub...

Re: Paladin Steel 80mm ‘Pulverizer’ Super-Heavy Shotgun
Also expect the Pulverizer to see some minor cosmetic customization for the 'sportsmen' using this darn thing...
On the other hand, Masamune Shirow is fond of depicting his full-conversion hero Briareos totin' some heavy caliber hardware...including a few weapons that look to be at least in the 60mm range, and don't look like one-off custom guns...
Then of course we have the new Hellboy II movie, where he's packing a six-shooter with some SERIOUS caliber....

Re: Paladin Steel Portable Scrambler Shelter
I don't have any formal plans for a catalogue...I'm still figuring out how to rewrite Paladin Steel's history...
PS is definitely a Rifts-Earth based company, based out of a Greater New England...but it doesn't necessarily have to be THE Rifts Earth...but a slightly different alternity...
See, my theory of interdimensional travel is that it's typically easier to travel between widely and readily divergent worlds than it is to travel between slightly similar ones...It should be easier to travel to places that are 'closer', interdimensionally speaking, that 'farther' places, but it's like taking a car to get to the end of your driveway..Indeed. some Rift events may simply be moving people between very similar Earths, the differences of which the travellers never know about(this idea is explored somewhat in the online cartoon 'Starslipt Crisis')....It's sort of like going through boxes and boxes and crates and shipping containers of the same paperbook book, and not realizing that everyone of them has a spelling error somewhere in them, or a missing page....THe sorter sees the book with a red cover inserted in boxes of blue-ones first...
Anywaayyyyyssss....PS would be a company in a world line where civilization on the East Coast is making a bit more of a comeback, global trade is restarting, and, perhaps most importantly, a few years back the Splugorth got SMACKED rather hard by somebody...the result being a mass exodus of slaves from Atlantis, the loss of several Splugorth outposts(the Brits have taken advantage of the Splugs' moment of weakness to blitz the site of Old London, among others), and the imposition of what amounts to a hand's off threat to the Splugorth if they meddle in continental affairs again...
So several million ex-slaves are loose on Earth, most of them trying to get odfworld, but some settling on Earth, and some of those wanting some payback on Splynn...Incidentally, the local markets have seen a spike in Atlantis-origin technology and artifacts, many of the escaping slaves being smart enough to loot the manors of their owners of anything of value, and others perfectly willing to sell Splugorth secrets and technology....
The Splugorth are reeling, but not down....Splynncryth's been humiliated, and he's hurt...and the party that smacked him down did it in particularly humiliating style...But he hasn't heard from them in a while, so he's beginning to wonder if just MAYBE the whole treaty was bluff following a one-shot defeat....
Like Battletech's Treaty of Tukkayid, the Splugorth are starting to feel around the edges of the treaty and see if there's a loophole, or a major breach...They're rebuilding their strength, and hitting out of the way places not covered by the treaty...
Of course, in the meantime, the nations formerly terrorized by the Splugorth have been busy as well, re-arming, gathering strength, exploring for new resources and allies, and trading like mad...
Paladin Steel is one of those new trade powers, and they've also been quick to pick the minds and swag-bags of the refugees, copying technology that's come second- and third-hand from Atlantis, and recruiting former factory slaves to work for them....
There's more, but that will do for now...

For a thinking movie, there's the Russian film 'Mongol' about Ghenghis Khan--supposed to be great cinematography

I always think of the example given in the original RMB of the CS surprising the arms dealer in his hovercraft...everything else is stated in the book, but there are no decent (or ANY) hovercraft suitable for an arms dealer(ie, large enough with cargo capacity), so there's a glaring need for ground effect and 'hover' vehicles in Rifts beyond hovercycles and the big APCs/transports...

I like going to Dark Roasted Blend site, instead.
The info is better than the Drak one
I think the linkto some ideas for a WW1-era 'battleball' is.
On a side note can PS do anything with Grab-it Pack just pictures of it caught my eye.

The structure of the tower should provide defense..but plexiglass fully enclosing the top where historically the soldiers in towers liked to have open for flexibility in their range of fire, rather than some plexiglass structure limiting where they can shoot from, or drawing them over to a firing port to put their guns through and thusly making them a predictable target for snipers. i just don't see a light Plexiglases being protective enough to warrant limiting the soldiers arch of fire with his weapons. small portable and detachable Plexiglas or metallic bullet shields could be a useful option but should be left as an option.
as a soldier id like to have the option of hopping out of the tower when the mortar round comes whizzing down on me..and not have to worry about smashing through some light MD glass, but rather just leap over my small defensive battlement and take a fall rather then a 80lb morter hit to my upper body. Pluse I think the loss of the glass just makes it more....like a actual piece of field equipment quick simple and dirty. just my opinions and observations.
Consider the windows pop-down/out for fast shooting out/escaping...

EASILY...you're talking about the equivalent of a flying freight train car(or an old Soviet armed hover landing craft)...A Wolfen or six could fit easily in the cabin...It's meant for big burley truckers and augments behind the wheel....

You can blame the CS for the policy. If the society you represent is really racially tolerant there can be exceptions made. But you are going to be compared against CS, for racial tolerance. For instance there is a mobile island in the Underseas book that would be welcome in PA if they wanted to come and visit.
Some of the major members of our society are Ogres, Elves, and Dwarves...There's the Windaro, who look like giant furred lizards with air sacs on their backs, there's the Chai-Chuks, who look like hyperactive beavers...The entire 4th Army consists of ex-Slugorth slaves who are itching for payback against slavers on ground of their own choosing...Many of the soldiers bear the disfiguring marks of biowizardry...in some cases, so much so that it's hard to tell WHAT species they were originally...and we got full conversion cyborgs...and it could be ANYBODY inside all that armor...

The elves in the GNE are sort of landed gentry who have invested in the dwarven mill towns and industrial works that merged with Paladin Steel...As PS and the GNE rise in prosperity, some of the old families switch places...the Dwarves establishing country manors(with some rather impressive wine cellars and basements) and some elves becoming Silicon Valley-style technocrats and gizmoheads......Paladin Steel West, in Old Washington Satte, has many more Dwarves as part of the Rocky Mountains/Cascades tribes...

What's wrong with an 'universal webbing' armor system using Atlas-Weave? The Grab-it part is not the wearer, but the pack on their hips. It's hard to find but it there. Check to the other 21? pictures in the gallery, the 6 or 8 in the bottom cornter it's hard to see the pack, but I think there one there.

For all the Empires and Kingdoms,
The Armies and Works that you hold Dear,
Are to him but the Playthings of the Moment,
To be turned over with the Flick of a Finger,
And the Turning of a Page"

Even after the war, the US military was toying with the idea of jet-powered or one-man rotor-lofted 'Pogo Sticks' with much the same idea....THis is one idea I CANNOT see being made practical with post-Rifts tech and magic(though I can see an actual rocket-powered or magic-enhanced pogo-stick being a favorite unorthodox transportation device for a Crazy)....

Re: Kitbash Vehicles--Paladin Steel ONTOS II
Yeah...woven Atlas-Weave would make for a tough harness that could be used as climbing gear in a pinch....
Commando Harness would also have a retractable single strand for use as a wire blade and garrote/decapitation weapon...
Good thinking there...plus using my older material to good advantage...
