my friends father actual has a bullet (or shaprnel can't say for sure) lodged in his brain from Nam to this very day. If they operate he'll die and the wound dosen't really affect him other than migraines.

So you can survive getting shot in the head. The odds are not high so agree with above but make it lower. say 1 percent chance
I remember days like this when my father took me to the forest and we ate wild blueberries. More than 20 years ago. I was just a boy of four or five. The leaves were so dark and green then. The grass smelled sweet with the spring wind...For us, there is no spring. Just the wind that smells fresh before the storm.

I roll damage like normal and apply the following penalties to the character who was shot for the next 1D4 melee rounds (15 seconds - 1 minute or until some sort of magical or psychic healing takes place, then the penalties are negated): automatically loses initiative, -10 to combat and perception rolls, -60% to skill rolls, reduce Speed attribute by 75%, loses next 1D4 melee attacks/actions from the shock of a head shot. It's generally sufficient to take the character out of the fight and make him vulnerable to further attack, but not kill him outright.

Of course, some GMs don't head shot PCs. I do it, but only if it really makes sense to do it. Generally, the bad guys/monsters just aim for center mass.

From memory, CB1 covers point blank shots to vital areas (chest/head) and I think the rule is double damage straight to hit points. Seems quick and cinematic enough for me - deadly with a slim chance for survival. Bit like real life.

For some body part damage rules check out the Compendium of Modern Weapons - also includes rules for shock and other funness. On the other hand, they kind of slow the game down a bit.

So instead I go quick and simpler - Double Damage Direct to HP.

Oh and if you want some kind of shock rules anyone that takes damage to their HP greater than their PE attribute the need to make a save vs on-lethal toxin to avoid being stunned for 1D4 minutes.

Not to mention the newer skill penalty rules when your HP drop below 25-50%. Makes it a lot harder to draw your ritual circle when you're trying to keep a gushing head wound closed...

On the plus side, you have a ready source of ink . . .

And if your GM is friendly enough, you can "take one for the team", & finish fueling the P.P.E. charge with the "doubled at death" from your own life... :D
