~ BEST CYBORG MODEL ~ Top 5

Unread post by TechnoGothic »

I'm only listing the Cyborg Models that are not customizible, or very limited customizability. These are Stock Model Cyborg Models, with set features already built-in.

Please no write-ins.
You can Select 5 Borgs in the Poll.

I voted for the Megaversal Legion Borg(Human). Borg strength, endurance and sensors but with the fun bonus of still having the nice fleshy bits so you can still feel a light summer breeze.

Starmage21 wrote:I wish you wouldve listed page numbers and books on all of these.

Again listed them from memory only.

New West = Cyberslingers & Mining Borg
NGR = Triax
Warlords of Russia = Solvetski, Ultraborgs (all)
South America 2 = Megaversal Legion borgs
Japan = Dragon borgs
Free Quebec = FQ borgs
China 2 = Geofront borgs

Mack wrote:Have to add in a model: The Cyber-Humanoid from the Bionics Sourcebook!

No I do not. Cyber-Humanoid is a total custom job cyborg. Which is why I left it off.
Besides it just sucks as far as borgs go anyways.

I also left out Phase World cyborgs altogether. Why is simple. Repo-bots rock too much. Star-Marshals rock too much too.

Nah, the Quatoria O.C.C.'s borg options all that great. The only thing they get is a CNRRS system that doesnt run out, but runs much slower.

Repo-Bots
Cyberai Cyborg Warrior (phaseworld sourcebook pg 16-19) 900 mdc, regenerates 2d6 per hour. Nano-Katanas which shifts between hand to swords.

Something everyone should remember: under RUE rules, all FCBs have robotic PS, so several of those borgs from old sourcebooks become more powerful under those rules.

oh, it's quite cheap actually. you just have to take out a large enough loan on other things, and then when the time is right they'll come find you and bring you to your appointment. you don't even have to pay off what you owed on all their other shiny toys... pretty neat, huh? :P

None of the other listed Borg's in a straight up fight stand a chance in my opinion against the Destroyer Borg.

I am honestly shocked at how little love the Ojahee and the Megaversal Legion Destroyer Cyborgs are getting ..

Those are two of the baddest Cyborgs in all of the books to date..

This must be a which one looks prettier .. type of a thread .. not a which one is actually the best in a combat scenario type question.

A ninja borg isn't designed for pure combat but for stealth, that's why it has those noise cancelling devices. In any case the poll simply asks for best cyborg, not who would win in a fight.

Just because it's not Combat oriented.
It's Stealth/Espionage oriented, wich when played right can be alot more fun than just blowing stuff up! :thwak:

I guess I just do not understand why ANY borg would be a "Stealth" orientated borg.

In my opinion the only reason to even undergo such a dramatic an overpowering transformation would be not to "Sneak" around .. Soft tissue bodies are better at that then any Cyborg could ever be ..

In my opinion the Cyborg is a nearly unstoppable front line combat type of class .. not a sneek around an stab you in the back type ..

This is just how I view Cyborgs tho ..

Re: ~ BEST CYBORG MODEL ~ Top 5

Unread post by Shark_Force »

well, that depends. it's true for the typical rifts concept of a 'borg, which is a hulking brute who's traded in their meat for a shiny new robotic body.

it's not so true for, say, the cyberpunk genre, where you can get implants that make you supernaturally agile and fast... like, makes the juicer look like he's a clumsy, morbidly obese kid kind of fast. (in shadowrun, for example, you can get 4 times as many attacks and set your agility and reaction to 1.5 times the maximum possible for your race... imagine the equivalent in rifts... )

and that's assuming you don't have a natural aptitude for those attributes, genetic modification to increase your maximum, and also assuming you're not a cyberzombie (which increases your augmented maximum) or the 'brain in a jar' type of cyborg (which can attain dicepools comparable to the cyberzombie and get a 5th multiple of number of attacks. yeah. 5 attacks. in 3 seconds. and you can do 2 short bursts or single shots per attack). and with their agility high enough, and their stealth skills cybernetically augmented so that they could probably sneak up on you in an open field in broad daylight. and i haven't even started talking ruthenium polymer skin or built-in white noise generators or thermal dampening yet.

so when you consider that the only reason you think of a stealth cyborg as being silly is that you're limiting your concept of cyborg to the rifts combat cyborg... a stealth cyborg suddenly doesn't seem so ridiculous.

I was kinda hoping the Gringo from New West would be in here. Vibro-blades, chest cannon and shoulder mini-missile launchers on top of wielding other firearms? It's a good one for the American market!

The Megaversal Legion 'borgs are probably the best, followed by the Geofront, then a tossup between the Japan Dragon 'Borgs and the Russian models in my opinion.

Gotta go witht he old trusty and reliable Red Manhunter. Versatile noto bulky can carry enough armour to make it a threat to any othr borg out there as well as carry weapons to do the same and isn;t a rare-ish conversion to get by comparison to many on the list.

As an aside, would you guys allow a player to select a chasis model instead of a custom job if they were playing a combat borg? I mean, there are OCCs for russian machines, quebec machines, TRIAX machines, CS standard (un-named chassis) which might be applicable to any given game, but what about just a bog standard combat borg who wanted, say, a gold borg chassis or a gringo one? Do you really make them just buy it later?

I mean, there are OCCs for russian machines, quebec machines, TRIAX machines, CS standard (un-named chassis) which might be applicable to any given game, but what about just a bog standard combat borg who wanted, say, a gold borg chassis or a gringo one? Do you really make them just buy it later?

I would let them do it,within reason.Within reason meaning a reasonable chance of being available in the region they operate in,and not ridiculously overpowered.
Have you ever been thrown out of a Rifts game for being smarter than the Game Master?

My favs are the old school Red Borg and the Slinger borgs
The slingers especially after the last swim suit issue of the Rifter ;)
They are essentially the Cyber humanoid borgs just stated out even though all borgs can have the hide away holsters in the legs something about a sexy senorita poping out two pistols and saving your ass is hot, while your singing "Save a horse, Ride a cowboy" or some other country song and hiding behind a table ;)

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the Repo borg more like a robot with the memory ingrams (or something like that) of the best Naurani repoman ever implanted inthe borg to ensure it will allways be true to its one true master the Naurani
