Mysteries of Magic II / Yin Sloth 2nd Ed.

Unread post by Soldier of Od »

wow, I'm on an uncharacteristic posting frenzy.

Anyone know when we can expect the second edition version of Yin sloth jungles? Probably before the next MoM, right?

Does anyone know whether all of the O.C.C.s in first edition will make it to the update? Or whether any of the magical ones may be presented instead in mysteries of magic II or III etc.? Undead Hunter is an obvious candidate for relocation as it could do with a nice expansion on the character, and doesn't really have anything to do with yin sloth apart from it being one of the various locations of undead hunter training centres. If any of the future MoM books expand on religion at all (or witches), maybe witch hunter and/or holy crusader could also be moved? Any thoughts?

When we updated Yin-Sloth Jungles all the O.C.C. were included. Now what Kevin will do, I have no idea.

Here's a question hopefully Shawn or Rodney can answer. Based on what MoM it says about
wizard apprentices, Forsaken Mages, and whatever you guys did to update the Undead
Hunter, do you think Undead Hunters can they perform or learn ritual magic or spells above
8th level?

Have yet to get MoM so can't comment on what it says. Hope to get it when I order my grab bag next month.

Still waiting for an answer from Rodney, Shawn, or perhaps Mark Hall.

My guess, Reagren, would be no, they can't learn spells above level 8. But I'm not quite the magical expert Mister Hall is. To be frank, it's going to depend on what they wrote in the book, that's where the info is going to come from! And according to what Kev himself told me, MoM will be out toward the start of the new year, which means it probably pre-dates Yin Sloth 2E.

My version had no trouble learning spells above level 8, but I have no idea what Kevin will do with it.

What you said Mark is what I'm hoping for, but who knows what will happen. I would also be
happy if he cut down the number of Holy Stars to 3 or 4, so the O.C.C. is not walking
around with 1.6 million gold in magic thowing weapons. I also like to see him get auto dodge
instead of auto parry (which makes no sense for the O.C.C. to have in 2nd edition). The
Heart Throb crossbow listed in the equipment selection :x . Although since they have no
magic combat skills and spell strength remains at 12, Kevin might have them ending up with
abilities and knowledge like the Half Wizard. And while I like the idea of the MoM series, it
would be nice to have Yin Sloth 2nd edition come out before completing the series. Hope you
get your MoM book soon Shawn and Robyn.
