The 'Nam in Bookshelf Format

Unread post by Beatmeclever »

Just wanted to mention that Marvel Comics has released the first ten issues of The 'Nam comic in bookshelf format. This was one of the best comics of the 1980s. Each month of the comic was one month of the year in the character's 12-month tours and the story was top notch.

Has anybody else read this?

Look it up. It's worth the read.

The uncertainty of thought lies in the fact that it cannot be exchanged either for truth or for reality. Is it thought which tips the world over into uncertainty, or the other way around? This in itself is part of the uncertainty." - J. Baudrillard

Yeah, I've been collecting that too! They are up to book #6 this month. With ten issues per book, it has been a good run so far. Good inspiration for games.

After all, the original team of 'Joes were:
Hawk - Missile Artillery (Artillery Officer MOS)
Breaker - RTO (RTO MOS)
Clutch - Transportation Specialist (?)
Flash - Laser Trooper (Heavy Weapons MOS)
Grand Slam - Artillery Gunner (Artillery Officer MOS)
Grunt - Infantry (Point MOS)
Rock'n'roll - Machine-gunner (Pigman MOS)
Scarlett - Counter-Intelligence (Intelligence MOS)
Short-Fuse - Mortar Trooper (Artillery Officer MOS)
Snake-Eyes - Commando (?)
Stalker - Green Beret (Medic MOS)
Steeler - Tank Commander (Tank COmmander MOS)
Zap - Bazooka Trooper (Heavy Weapons MOS)

They have made short appearances in my games, most of my players think it is cool to be ftf with the "masters."

The IDW site says it's in stock. A check of Chapters website (Canada's version of Barnes and Nobles) puts it as being released December 9th . . . which is probably why none of us have found it on the shelves yet.
