edit: oh, and my personal opinion is that the federation of magic is not particularly united at all. parts of the federation recognise dunscon's authority, and those parts would basically be the only ones to be affected by any plot to overthrow dunscon, in my opinion.

It can always be done it's just a matter of planning, will power to carry it out, and execution.
I'm just not very well versed in the magic aspect of the game yet to pose a just how it could be done plot though, still catching up on all the spells and latest technowizardy rules. :lol:

How to overthrow him? So many ways - a dweamor loyal Tolkeen "refugee" faction in the City of Brass, direct intervention by the Lords of Magic, a TW bomb designed by Stormspire... and for my money, I see Dweamor taking the lead with Stormspire as a very close second/partner... perhaps with the Federation lands being signed over to Tolkeenites to rebuild their city in the Magic Zone.

IDK...I know the Federation of Magic is supposed to be the Yin to the Coalition's Yang, but I just dont see the FoM as the magical version of the Coalition and see them as very much of a threat in North America, in character or in overall popularity of gamers who play Rifts. Overthrowing Dunscon would be insignificant.

I'd have to go with killing Dunscon really wouldn't do much at all. Before he returned the FoM was sitting around longing for the past. If something happened to Dunscun now, the FoM would fall back into it's funk. Maybe there would be a short burst of action towards the CS, or who ever was responsible, but in the end the would go back to the way they were before Dunscun cane back.

I think he (Dunscon) is too egotistical to belive he could be assassinated thus makin it not as difficult as one mihgh think. In fact it may be easier to assassinate Dunscon than it woudl be to assassinate Prosek.
I am very opinionated. Yes I rub people the wrong way but at the end of the day I just enjoy good hard discussion and will gladly walk away agreeing to not agree :D

Yes it would be "possible" to assassinate Lord Dunscon ..

But why would you ?

Yes the man is pure evil .. but he is a pure evil man .. who is not doing anything to anyone at this moment ..

Killing him will leave a vacume of Power .. from which some one/thing could easily usurp .. and then actually START building up the Fed's military might ..

And actually START .. to wage war's on or against its neighboring nonmagical communities ..

Slowly .. start decimating everyone .. or everything ..

And with the Minion War about to pop off on Rifts earth .. do you REALLY .. think it would be a wise move .. to kill the demon/devil you know .. for one you have no clue about ?

But they DO have a clue. If Duncson dies, Splynncryth will look elsewhere for allies. The Federation of Magic will temporarily become a set of warring principalities, with Stormspire and Dweomer offering alternatives to the old regime. By the time the war is over, Dweomer will extend the hand of tolerance and friendship, and Stormspire will extend the hand of cash.

I agree, if dunscon was taken down, Dweomer should take control and bring it under some universal rule, to keep this "bastardization" of the FoM from happening again. If they don't, there'd be so much in fighting it might bring the CS into it and cost Dweomer.
