DUSKHUNTER: Carl Kolchan's Weapon
Carl Kolchan, a former marine now-turned newspaper reporter in a small city in Virginia investigates the paranormal, to the angst of his editor/publisher. While Carl primarily relies on his wits to defeat supernatural threats, he also realizes that there's nothing quite like packing iron... --for those *special* circumstances, most of which are not supernaturally related at all. And, while the poll options are not EXHAUSTIVE, there are enough options listed for you to help illustrate his character.
What kind of weapon would Carl pack?
Here is YOUR chance to help *DEFINE* his character and the outcome of future adventures in this MESSAGE BOARD CHOOSE-YOUR-OWN-ADVENTURE story. And, actually, it's a **VOTE** YOUR OWN ADVENTURE story. Here is democracy IN ACTION during election season. Don't be apathetic. Vote now!
ALSO, Chapter One of "DUSKHUNTER" is still open for voting options. Take a gander and BREAK THE **THREE-WAY** TIE!

Re: DUSKHUNTER: Carl Kolchan's Weapon
I really like the M1911A1 so voted for that and has lots of stoping power.
Re: DUSKHUNTER: Carl Kolchan's Weapon
You guys are in the lead. A very good weapon with stopping power and a lot of character.
Personally, I would trade more shots (ala 9mm 21 round model). BUT... it's the classic comparison between having more shots (in case you miss) and not having to reload as often, versus stopping a target with less shots. Each has an advantage depending on situational factors (all-out firefight or one-on-one or few vs few).
Either way, it's interesting to see how WHICH weapon a character uses defines him/her.

Could go with the Para USA Super Hawg. It's a 1911A1 style but has a double stack magazine that holds 14 rounds. If you have not got your point across after 14 .45 ACP rounds, your just screwed.

Re: DUSKHUNTER: Carl Kolchan's Weapon
Functionally, a 9mm is as lethal if not more so than a .45, especially if the target has some sort of armour. However, I can't see a retired marine with a Glock, it doesn't jive for me. A long arm is way too much, the revolver sees out of date and the rest seem a tad effeminate for me, so I gotta say the .45 is the way to go in my mind as well.
Though I second the idea of one of the more modern M1911A1 derivatives. Some of my faves include:
LAR Grizzly
Para-Ordinance's family of pistols

Sorry, Natasha.... While those are fantastic weapons, I just didn't see them as "Kolchan-ish." Also, I could've put 100 items on the list, but wow... that would be like being in a video store and not being able to choose which 2 movies to rent. LOL
Thanks for all the feedback. Voting for the choice of weapon ends this Saturday.
Do please, someone, break the tie in the first installment of DUSKHUNTER. It's more fun for me if you guys are making the decisions. But, it will be a fun, creative exercise and adventure nonetheless.

I voted for the Uzi, just because the backstory makes it a compelling reason.

Very nice. I was hoping someone would pick-up on that. Unfortunately, voting has already ended. BUT!!!
Don't be too late on future decisions! Chapter 2, "The Laura Celeste" is already out, and you can vote on the outcome of that installment of DUSKHUNTER. --If you already haven't.
But, don't be dismayed, as future questions will come into play that will help define Kolchan's character. Also, if you post your thoughts on current situations, you can affect things BEYOND THE VOTE as well.
