question about deathword.

Unread post by dante144 »

Does this have to be spoken to one person? Can it be spoken to a group? or more to one person and work?

It can affect people in armor or mecha if the can hear, right?

Greetings and Salutations. To answer part of your question I'll turn to the wording in Book of Magic, page 133.*

*Note: Almost the exact same wording can be found in R:UE, page 219

Upon casting the spell, the mage selects one target ...

And there is your answer to the limit. It mentions "one target." Also mentioned is ...

... damage is inflicted regardless of magical defenses, body armor, or Immunities.

There it mentions it still affects those in body armor (and even those with immunities). So it seems like if they can hear it, and they're within range (they still need to be within range of the spell) it'll work for the damage section.

The coma part is another matter. In this part, there is still a save. So if someone has an immunity, then they probably don't have to save. Similar, I believe if someone is in armor/power armor/robot with so much MDC (I don't remember the specific details or the target number, but I think there is a rule somewhere on this) then they can't be targeted by spells. So again, I would seem to think they don't need to make their save vs. magic (the save is automatic). Though that's just my opinion and your mileage may vary. Hope that helps. Thank you for your time and patience, please have a nice day. Farewell and safe journeys for now.

Keep in mind, magic cannot penetrate a robot vehicle. Book of magic, page 21.
Ray, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say "YES"!

another question regarding the death-word spell, it says regardless of immunities, does that mean that Zavor are affected, and do they multiply when hit, and if they multiply are both hit or just one, and if only one, which one... my head hurts

Tough call. I'd say the Zavor is affected. The "regardless of immunities" clause says to me that it kills the little bugger rather than making him multiply.

They take damage but still multiply.
