probably wouldn't be that hard. Gear would be like equivelant. As for the OCC I would look at the Civillian one, and then build a MOS or career package that would be geared for combat.
Now thinking about it, I have been looking at creating an Invid RCC and MOS setup. Where it would be a Stage V invid (Human form) - with 3 MOS like choices, Warrior, Simulagent, and Scientist.

That sounds like a cool idea.

I have found it to be truly easy. the mecha is not hard you can move it stright across or raise or lower the MDC value as you wish. I generally do 10% to 20%, when i feel the need to.
Making an OCC just take what they have for the OCC and build the MOS packages you feel they should or would have.

I agree, I would be interested in your ideas on this as well Tiree, I have been contemplating making a Stage Five RCC and would enjoy seeing what you come up with.

For OCCs you can basically drop them in as is. The only real changes needed are adjusting for the expanded skill list and some of the old skills that where modernized (like the Mecha Combat/Piloting).
Gear can be a bit more problematic.
The only change to the giving damage stats could be in the burst category to match the newer single burst damage instead of the short/medium/full mess.
MDC protection. Within similiar categories (ex. Cyclones) they appear to be in scale when you consider the MDC protection provided for the given mass. No changes are needed if you look at it this way. If you just look at the MDC provided for a similiar unit without considering the mass, some adjustments maybe necessary.

Re: so how hard is it to convert old Robotech to the new system
Look at the item you want to bring over to the new edition, read the descriptions and history if it has one, then look around for similar items in the old edition that did receive an official update. Then work with those bits and bobs of information to bring the item in line with the current edition. Worked out well when I ended up converting a tank over on the fly at an Open House one year.
Unfortunately, as I understand the current rules for this thread, even if there were a simple mathematical conversion to apply to anything, which there isn't, we couldn't post it.
Hm, I wonder if I could post the updated description for that tank without any game numbers or stats?

Yes, you can. As long as no GAME STATS (i.e mdc, weapon damages and the like). Physical stats (height, length, etc.) are OK too. Just no GAME STATS.

I know some Robotech games have it done already, I'm playing in one of them. And enjoying it very much. The unlove in some places is palpable.
Currently Playing:
Robotech: Rising Sun hosted by Chris
Robotech 2044: Tales of the Misfits Next Generation hosted by RyuDraconis
Robotech 2042: Getting the Goods hosted by silvermoon383
Will update when another is added.

I have my own simplified tables on the increase of mdc from the old to new Robotech stats. Works fine for me. I did the same for Macross and Macross II

It's not extremely different, as it is still Palladium. But the differences are noticeable, because it is basically an upgrade like Rifts was to Rifts Ultimate Edition.
Things that are different:
OCC/Character Generation - it is an OCC/MOS system.
Mecha Combat is a bit different - Basic Mecha Combat is no longer part of the game, instead you either have it or don't. If you don't then your basic Combat Skills are translated over instead.
MDC Values have changed on all your favorite Mecha
Bonuses have also changed from all your favorite Mecha
Mecha have also changed (especially in the Master's era - no more EBSIS Mecha)
Fixed the problems of the Mecha from 1.0 to 2.0 - but also made other issues as we later found out in the IMAI files)
So lots of things have changed, lots have stayed the same. You should be able to easily convert most things, from one to the other (especially with vehicles). The hard part is going to be OCC's as the new OCC's have limited skill selections based on the number of skills they get to choose from. The MOS system takes away a lot of choice.
