Re: Group Combo Questions
First off i have to admit thats an awesome team synergy build. I love it when everyone has powers that can back up another person, and if aimed wrong can hurt each other to.
Now this will only probably help your question a little bit, but thats only because i use the "Rules" in the book as a guideline foundation for the game world and use my own common sense for everything else.
And me personally would allow the negatives to stack due to the fact that its negatives from 3 seperate powers so i dont see why they wouldnt stack.
Also for coolness and logic, i dont see why the APS:Light person couldnt go thru cracks or openings, but Windows/glass i would probably not allow due to knowing that there are Glass and other chemicals/materials that prevent light or forms of light from crossing thru. And i'm sure as you pointed out its a space campaign so the Glass/windows on the ships are preventing many spectrums from passing thru. So i wouldnt allow that. But anything else i dont see why not.

BachiAtari wrote:Hello Forums I would like to ask a few questions about power combos. Currently we have a group with members having Sonic Powers, Light Powers, & Void Powers (This is a space faring game). Now this is a reasonably diverse group, but we have developed some combos that seem crazy. First of which is what we've dubbed the "Helen Keller" (Which I'm sure people can guess) Basically the Light based shoots his blinding flash, the Sonic power makes a boom to deafen, and the Void power sucks the air, not allowing them to breathe or talk. This seems to be rather nasty because the unfortunate victim is -22 st/pa/do, do they stack since they're all different powers (assuming that the victim fails saving throws from all three attacks.)
So long as the the sonic attack is before the vacuum attack they Triple Threat attack works. So long as the opponent is vulnerable to those attacks.
BachiAtari wrote:Second question involving Alter Physical Structure Light. The power states that he is Semi-Intangible, & that bullets and physical attacks go right through. Being in that state would the power allow the character to more through cracks that can allow light to escape, or even going through windows and glass?
Thanks for your time and I hope you can be kind to this noob.
I, speaking in GM mode, would let the APS:Light char to pass through any Transparent object.
However, I think the wording is meant to say that so long as there is a hole that is a straight shot through the hole, think laser straight, then the APS:light char is capable of passing through the hole.

Granted, and the Sonic PC isn't happy with that fact, however this tactic is usually used in atmo.
Another APS: Light question, would they be able to travel through fiber optics?
Light travels thru fiber optics just as Electricty passes thru wire. So i dont see why not on that one. To be honest, thats an awesome idea that i have yet to even think of. So thanks for something interesting to use in the future. =)

Well, assuming the light person has Bend Light I don't see why the PC couldn't bend himself to a spectrum that isn't affected.
Either option works, You as a gm can decide on one or the other, or leave it depending on a situational basis. Your call really.

Light does not travels thru fiber optics just as Electricity passes thru wire.
The light passes through the fiber optics, like light passing through a window, getting the same light out the other end.
Electricity passes thru (metal) wire more like a wave through water, with each electron bumping the next in a chain reaction. Thus the electrons passing out the other end are not the same electrons that were put in.

Okay, so then the statement there on how those exactly work, would then make it possible to travel thru Fiber Optic, since the person would be a singlular source of a light type and would come out the other side exactly the same as he went in as. Which would be awesome.
And thanks for the scientific break down. I stayed on the broad level of information instead of the molecular. .

Re: Group Combo Questions
The triple attack seems okay as long as the victim isnt immune to any one of them. Flash bangs blind and deafen the target in the same way.
I think that APS light can pass through objects that light can pass through.

Well, it might allow two different light attacks to achieve a single higher powered attack...and possibly you could use it to hold someone in light form.

Re: Group Combo Questions
Bend Light in the book always seemed rather under-stated, & I've noticed on the forums mentioning other usage of the power such as: peeking around corners, magnifying, creating one way mirrors. The physics of it just seems like it can do so much more than making rainbows.
Understated? Aside from the rainbow stuff -- including effects outside the visible-light spectrum -- it already lets you fire up "blank spot" invisibility easy as see into the infrared or ultraviolet, not to mention deflecting lasers at range. This ain't Glide or Clock Manipulation or Heightened Sene Of Taste, where adding an overstated trick could bring it up to par; this power is already perilously close to Major status, IMHO.

Re: Group Combo Questions
Yes, it is fairly versatile, but not really close to major status. It is, on my 4 level scale ranging from Special Effect, to Secondary, to Primary, to Superior, a Secondary power. That means there are many Powers I rated less effective than it is (all the Special Effects). I also thin there tend to be other things you can do with most powers, super heroes are generally able to find new ways to use their powers.

Well, yeah. You rated it as better than rather a lot of the minor powers -- including, like I'd said, Flight: Glide -- and AFAICT rated only Major powers higher. You didn't rate it as low as Advanced Sight or Energy Resistance or a hundred other understated choices, which presumably could use a little something extra to be as good as the Secondary ones; you instead rated Bend Light right up there with stuff like Radar and Healing Factor, and I agree with you.

Re: Group Combo Questions
I sometimes wonder if I should have included the total rating instead of just the summery. In theory the scale goes from 1 to 25...five ratings of 0-5 with all powers having at least a "1" in at least 1 rating. The ratings are Attack, Defense, Information, Transportation, and Utility.
Only powers which had a total of 3 or less (in one rating, or spread out) wound up in the Special Effects category.
