Morality/Alignment question
Is Cloning party members and then selling the clones as food evil? Just wondering, I personally think I'm sitting on a gold mine here. Do I need to offer them a cut of the profits? personally I think I can have a long pig franchise going in every major city but minor moral quibbles are troubling me.

Re: Morality/Alignment question
Yes it is evil. Now if you were cloning normal animals, I would of said no, it is not evil. But as the clones are of your party members and not of simple animals, that changes the equation.

Cloning technology that is advanced enough to clone people should be enough to clone only the muscle tissue and other tasty bits without the need for creating sentient life.

Re: Morality/Alignment question
I think if you are willing to clone parts of yourself and sell that as food, it wouldn't be evil to do it to others. Do they know/care that you are doing this? Is it like a Giant Mutant Pig character, or a Giant Walkin Thunder Turducken?

Cannibalism causes diseases like Mad Cow and kuru.
Re: Morality/Alignment question
One series of short stories set in a bar where aliens came visiting to earth you learn one alien species is extremely advanced in cloning, to the point that they clone EVERYTHING for a meal including the first contact astronauts. One of them reveals the horror of it while detailing how they're having a roast of him at some state function and how they're paying royalties for the clones.
Fair warning: I consider being called a munchkin a highly offensive slur and do report people when they err in doing so.

It's 'canon', not 'cannon'. A cannon is a big gun like on pirate ships, canon is what you mean when referring to something as being contained within one of the books such as how many dice to roll for a stat.

Cannibalism causes diseases like Mad Cow and kuru.
actually, no it doesn't. those are caused by damaged proteins, or prions, which screw up the normal operation of the body.
cannibalism doesn't cause such damaged proteins. in all respects, eating the flesh of ones own kind is pretty much the same as eating the flesh of any other animal.
the danger is that in a population where the damaged proteins are already present, cannabilism can cause them to spread faster through the population. mad-cow for example was the result of poorly processed cow parts being added to cattle feed as a means to 'bulk up' the cattle. the damaged proteins were the result of the processing, and once in a few cattle, eventually spread to others as infected cattle became raw material for more cattlefeed. the human version of the illness, Creutzfeldt-jacob's, of which Kuru is a variant, is usually contracted by eating animal flesh, especially the brain, which is infected with prions. it's most common in third world countries where monkey and ape are a part of a populations diet, but the most well known cases are when it become a localized epidemic as the result of cannabilism.

People are not food. Clones of people are people and not food. Thinking people are food is evil.
May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.

Re: Morality/Alignment question
I think you could swing it to be a positive thing.
Generally feeding people sentient life forms is evil, even if they were cloned in a way that they had no intelligence to speak of.
If you were cloning your party members without intelligence and feeding them to a cannibal with the intent of making sure that cannibal never has to hard an innocent to sustain it's own life, then that is a good action regardless of the profits.
It is kind of like in Stargate: Atlantis when the team tried to alter the Wraith so they could survive off regular food instead of human life-force. Only with substantial profits involved.

Re: Morality/Alignment question
I would think that it would be subject to the rules of the society that you're in. After all, there may be societies out there that eat their dead as a ritual of celebrating the deceased person's life (Stranger in a Strange Land is an excellent example).
However, this is a Rifts thread. In general, among most goodly-aligned societies, then yes, feeding someone the flesh of a sentient would be evil. However, in a place like Atlantis, it's considered just another source of protein.
As for selling the cloned flesh of your fellow party members without their permission or approval, it's less evil than rude. That would be more of an in-party interaction, IMO.
