Powerman 5000 : This is What its like When Worlds Collid !!
Cruxshadows : Winter Born
Helloween : Halloween (entire Album: Keeper of the Seven Keys pt1)

Krokus : Screaming in the Night (entire album : Headhunter)
Sons of vengeance, can you rescue me
They got me tied up to a woe tree
They had me screamin' and alone in the night
I'm beginning to see what's wrong and what is right
What is wrong and what is right, oh, what is wrong and what is right

The gates was gettin' rusty, as we sailed into the dark
The stars were out and shinin' against the moonlit hour
The wolves were out and howlin', most of the time
And I was cold and shiverin' and bleedin' in the night
Bleedin' in the night, oh, bleedin' in the night

Screaming in the night, fighting for my life, I'd die for you
I knew it all along, headed for the sun, our love was true (our love was true)
Screaming in the night, fighting for my life, I'd die for you
I knew it all along, headed for the sun, our love was true, oh

In the corner of the valley, we took him by surprise
The sound of steel rang loud, above the battle cries
I found her lying lifeless, dagger through her heart
I picked her up, and held her high, and I swore to be avenged
Swore to be avenged, oh swore to be avenged, oh

Screaming in the night, fighting for my life, I'd die for you
I knew it all along, headed for the sun, our love was true (our love was true)
Screaming in the night, fighting for my life, I'd die for you
I knew it all along, headed for the sun, our love was true, oh
Screaming in the night, fighting for my life, I'd die for you, oh
I knew it all along, headed for the sun, our love was true (our love)
Screaming in the night, fighting for my life, I'd die for you, oh
I knew it all along, headed for the sun, our love was true, oh

Chello!

For the CS, I've always thought of "One Vision" by Queen:

One flesh one bone
One true religion
One race one hope
One real decision
Wowowowow oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah!

I had a dream
When I was young
A dream of sweet illusion
A glimpse of hope and unity
And visions of one sweet union
But a cold wind blows
And a dark rain falls
And in my heart it shows
Look what they've done to my dreeeeaaam...yeah!

It just seems to fit. :D

hmmm I'm surprised no one ha dthought it before of it but...
Master of Puppets of Metallica can be the soundtrack of Splynncryth

End of passion play, crumbling away
I'm your source of self-destruction
Veins that pump with fear, sucking darkest clear
Leading on your deaths construction
Taste me you will see
More is all you need
Dedicated to
How I'm killing you

Come crawling faster
Obey your Master
Your life burns faster
Obey your Master
Master

Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind, smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master

Needlework the way, never you betray
Life of death becoming clearer
Pain monopoly, ritual misery
Chop your breakfast on a mirror
Taste me you will see
More is all you need
Dedicated to
How I'm killing you

Come crawling faster
Obey your Master
Your life burns faster
Obey your Master
Master

Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind, smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master

Master, Master, where's the dreams that I've been after?
Master, Master, you promised only lies
Laughter, laughter, all I hear or see is laughter
Laughter, laughter, laughing at my cries
Fix me!

Solo!

Hell is worth all that, natural habitat
Just a rhyme without a reason
Neverending maze, Drift on numbered days
Now your life is out of season
I will occupy
I will help you die
I will run through you
Now I rule you too

Come crawling faster
Obey your Master
Your life burns faster
Obey your Master
Master

Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind, smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master

When I first started playing Rifts I was going through a Metallica phase. One of my players had a Cyber-Knight on a motorcycle and our game was centered in New Mexico. We probably listened to "Wherever I May Roam" a hundred times. So, whenever I hear that it brings some oldschool Rifts to mind. :)

Lonely Island - Space Olympics

Reach for the stars!

You stand on a distant planet
Skyline of red plateaus
Strange air and vegetation
You're a winner!

Welcome to the Space Olympics
The year Thirty Twenty Two
Take part in a grand tradition
Your name echoes in the holes of the universe!

Believe in yourself!
Take your game into outer space!

Every single galactic athlete
Needs a coded ID badge
Drug tests are mandatory
You're a winner!

The Athlete's Village is on Zargon
You all get a junior suite
We don't cover incidentals
So keep your ass off the minibar!

You're the best in the world!
Brace yourself 'cause there's no gravity!

You're in the ******' Space Olympics!

Let it be known by every nation
You'll only get one meal a day
There was a bit of a budget SNAFU
And food funding is insufficient

We can't really enforce a curfew
As there is no light or sound
Just one of the many problems
With hosting a sporting event in space.

Attention all athletes. There are minor scheduling adjustments.

Space Disc! Is totally cancelled.
Space Swords! Is totally cancelled.
Space Luge! Is also cancelled.
And all other events are pending!

Welcome to your Space Olympics
All the oxygen has run out
And someone who will not be named
Accidentally hit self-destruct

As you file to your escape pods
I'll distract the alien hordes
And as I stare death in the face I know my sins will take me to hell.

You do it for the love
My love
And there ain't no woman that could take your spot my love

also Incredibad, also by Lonely Island

Nooooow let's take a trip down Memory Lane
Back to Junior High School where it all began
Three bad little kids raising hell at school
We were just thirteen straight actin' a fool

Every day after class, Kiv's house was the spot
Making crazy prank calls hoping not to get caught
Best friends, love brothers, yo, we one and the same
'Till one fateful afternoon when everything changed

One day playing punch out up in Kiv's room
The house started shaking and we heard a "Kaboom"
Looked out the back window saw a billow of smoke
Yo, your backyard is smashed, man this isn't a joke

(Let's go check this out man!) (I bet, let's go)

All the smoke and debris led straight to the basement
Yo, what the hell is that? Man, it looks like a spaceship!
We all ran for cover and the hatch opened wide
And a little green dude stepped out from inside

He said, "I'm from Mars, and I come in peace
I have something to ask, and it's not discreet
There's a mutated strain in our DNA helix
And you three kids are the ones who can heal it"

But we're just thirteen, man, what can we do?
"Um, how should I put this? I think we should screw" (What?)
"On our home planet we can no longer breed
I've been sent a self-receptacle for storing your seed"

Storing our seed? Yo, I think he means sex
Man, I'm a virgin, we all are, bad!
"I'm just gonna lie here, and close my eyes"
Aw, what should we do? Now it's spreading it's thighs!

"You'll be heroes on our planet!" But why us three?
"You're the chosen ones, you'll just have to trust me"

(Yo should we do it?) (I don't know!)
(Yo, I say we put it to a vote.)
All in favor, say aye. AYE!

Okay, we're in! "Cool." You should go first
"I have three depositories to capture your burst"
Wait, at the same time? "Yeah, that's what I was thinking
Now here's some wine coolers, let's get you boys drinking"

We pounded the drinks, and started getting tipsy
We took our positions, and started getting frisky
One in the front and two in the back
Had it locked up like a chinese finger trap

"Keep pumping away! My wife and family thank you"
I'm about to explode! Yo son, me too!
THREE WAY CLIMAX! Best friends forever!
Who would thought that we've lost our virginities together

"Andy, Jorm and Kiv, you've saved our race
Your reward is one wish then I'll go back to space"
We looked at eachother, didn't have to talk
Knew exactly what he wanted before he took off

Mr. Alien sir, for what it's worth
We wanna be the greatest fake MC's on Earth

"Your wish is granted, and thanks again
You may have saved my planet but I'm losing three friends
What happened today was both incredible and bad
Therefore your name is Incredibad"

Incredibad!
SURPRISE, EVERYONE!

Next question.

I usually listen to video game soundtracks depending on the situation. Gears of War is a good one, as is Morrowind or Oblivion for when the party is travelling through a mystical or wondrous land. Coalition-themed adventures usual warrant music from Battlefield 2 or Command & Conquer. New West adventures get Western-inspired soundtracks, like the Wild West theme from Timesplitters 2 or even the Red Dead Redemption soundtrack.

ROB ZOMBIE LYRICS

"Demon Speeding"

Hey, do ya love me. I'm untouchable darkness
A dirty black river to get you through this
Hey, do ya love me I'm a devil machine
(hey do ya love me I'm a devil machine)
Get into my world all american dream

In the mouth of madness

no more tomorrow
down in the hollow

Hey do ya love it when the kids are screaming
Wrecking on the road violate their dreaming
Hey, do ya love to see the filth in the clean
(hey do ya love to see the filth in the clean)
get into the gone all american dream

In the mouth of madness
down in the darkness
no more tomorrow
down in the hollow

i'm demon speeding
i'm demon speeding
i'm demon speeding
i'm demon speeding

get it on, get it on, get it on, get it on come alive

Hey, do ya love me elevating the madness
(Hey, do ya love me elevating the madness)
a super death rising to get you through this

Wow. Noone has mentioned this yet.

Linkin Park ... Great Divide (Transformers2 Soundtrack)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMv2nrZahD8

New Divide lyrics

I remembered black skies, the lightning all around me
I remembered each flash as time began to blur
Like a startling sign that fate had finally found me
And your voice was all I heard that I get what I deserve

So give me reason to prove me wrong, to wash this memory clean
Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes
Give me reason to fill this hole, connect the space between
Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies across this new divide

There was nothing in sight but memories left abandoned
There was nowhere to hide, the ashes fell like snow
And the ground caved in between where we were standing
And your voice was all I heard that I get what I deserve

So give me reason to prove me wrong, to wash this memory clean
Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes across this new divide

In every loss, in every lie, in every truth that you'd deny
And each regret and each goodbye was a mistake too great to hide
And your voice was all I heard that I get what I deserve

So give me reason to prove me wrong, to wash this memory clean
Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes
Give me reason to fill this hole, connect the space between
Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies across this new divide
Across this new divide, across this new divide

If you hadn't mentioned GWAR I wouldn't have known how cool you are, but remember their name is all-caps.

Post Scriptum:I need to dig up my statted-out Beefcake and Scrota-Moon(dumbest GWAR character ever) to complete the band for an... odd campaign I have planned.

Oops GWAR.. me loves GWAR!!! Warghoul!!! Gotta love GWAR , they makes some wicked songs that could fit RIFTS.

Buck Rogers in the 25th Centry Theme Song : Suspension

Song from Buck Rogers (Suspension)
Vocals by Kipp Lennon
Lyrics and Music by Glen A. Larson

Far beyond the world I've known,
Far beyond my time.

What am I, Who am I, What will I be?
Where am I going and What will I see?
Searching my mind for some truth to reveal,
What thoughts are fantasy and what memories real?

Long before this life of mine,
Long before this time.
What was there?
Who cared, to make it begin?
Is it forever or will it all end?

Searching my past for the things that I've seen.
Is it my life or just something I've dreamed?

Far beyond this world I've known,
Far beyond my time.

What kind of world am I going to find?
Will it be real or just all in my mind?

What am I, Who am I, What will I be?
Where am I going and what will I see?

As I am about to go see Ozomatli here momentarily, I would suggest...

Coming War by Ozomatli feat. Chali 2na (of Jurassic 5)

off their self titled release from 1998.

They are a great soundtrack to anything. My wife n I are about to chill backstage before and after the show with them tonight. Uli, who does all the dope solos, would get us in free if I hadn't already bought tickets. I have spare tickets if I want them and the drinks will be flowin. A good time shall be had by all. Unfortunately there will be no talk of gaming as they are too busy traveling the globe and just being awesome people to have time for such a time consuming hobby. They recently returned from China and Tibet I believe. Oh to live the life of a wandering minstrel.

Cold's "With My Mind" is a good one I've discovered recently. You could call it "The Psychic Song" and the name would fit like a glove. Anyone who played that uncelebrated classic Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy would recognize it instantly.

NIN. I was introduced to Rifts while listening to NIN. Head Like a Hole was playing while I read about the Cyber-Knights, which ended up being my first character. NIN has had the strongest Rifts to me.

Dream Warriors - Twelve Sided Dice (Canadian Hip Hop 1991)

You've got shadow fear
Your brain is tickin', thinkin'
If it's us again
Of course it is
The same firm, same name, same claim

Be humble, my brothers, for this one's different
It's the roll of the 12-sided dice

Roll of the 12-sided dice
Roll of the 12-sided dice
Roll of the 12-sided dice
Roll of the 12-sided dice

I've got a profitable brain, supernatural eyes
Multiplied by
The galactic vigilante strapped twice
What's your answer, Dungeon Master?

Unimaginable awful blast on the face of this earth

Then you've got that right
I'm the tow truck
Of the soul land
I can get around you, I get you hyper
So forever, and ever
This will be spreaded across the livergaway
I am the way
I will take the weak out, put my thoughts right in
And then

Roll of the 12-sided dice
Roll of the 12-sided dice
Roll of the 12-sided dice
Roll of the 12-sided dice

Do not attempt to avoid my thoughts
Climb out of the frying pan, you roast in the fire
Cleric, my character, I hope you recall
I am religious to what I believe in
Righteousness takes us away from the wrong
So have no
Right
And have no
Wrong

If we didn't have dark, we wouldn't need light
This style is different as you can tell
It's in the flow, it's in the flow
It's in the flow
Here I go

Too unaccented explaining this man
My life could be long, my life could be short
While I'm living I'm playing it smart
A fighter I am, and a fighter I will be
Keeping my hit points high, not low
I think before I move
Right
I think before I move
Left
Then roll the twelve-sided dice

Roll of the 12-sided dice
Roll of the 12-sided dice
Roll of the 12-sided dice
Roll of the 12-sided dice

This is the real King, encyclopedic, mind weave offer
I'm telling you tales about my quest
Empty factory studios
The weak and great shall not succeed
Makes your mind all go to pieces you would never leave
Wasteful to wait, most full thoughts
Time
Allows you to go, but you don't think fast

You don't think fast
You don't think fast
You don't think fast
You don't think fast

Look
Here I go again on my own
Going down the only road I ever known
I'm a hitchhiker
The guide to the galaxy
You're feeble, brittle, and sitting on the critical
I know I'm cease times table
I'm using a character, in this case a king
The same thing that I would wanna say
You see the crowd as an elastic, I'm pulling to the fold
When an immortal takes hold
The crowd is cold
Stun
This immortal is second to none
For here
This is my atmosphere
And if your DJ is itchin' to match my scratchin'
He will itch all over in a thousand places
He pulls maces and knocks out faces
You need practice in order to extract us
Roll of the twelve-sided dice

Roll of the 12-sided dice
Roll of the 12-sided dice
Roll of the 12-sided dice
Roll of the 12-sided dice

Had fast ideas about reality
All in one speech to teach that
Wisdom and power do not agree
So put fun and joke aside and come with me
I will guide you to everlasting light
There's no turning back if you're coming this way
You will learn how to live, and learn more why
We roll the twelve-sided dice

Anything from the Viking Rock gives me flashbacks to Rifts. I think the blend of heavy metal and folklore highlights the ongoing war between technology and magic.

I actually have a Rifts playlist on my iPod believe it or not, it mostly consists of Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, and Nirvana. I grew up playing Rifts in the early 90's which was the hey day for grunge, so my friends and I would just play (on tape) all the popular grunge stuff of the day. I usually play it when I'm GMing Rifts and trying to come up with some adventure material, really takes me back in gets me in the zone.

I feel the same way, for the same reason. Those bands have a dark gritty feel, same with the Metal and Industrial of that era. Also about any punk & alternative from the 80s. I was a teenager in the 90's. I grew up with D&D, and later discovered TMNT, Robotech, then Heroes & BTS, then Rifts. Those songs mentioned above really do have a Rifts like feel to me.

I have always felt that any RPG should be played to movie or video game scores. A friend of mine and I used to plan them out sometimes.

You get your chase music from a Bond film or something like Peacemaker. Combat music from Halo or Mass Effect. For mood music you have to go with Two Steps from Hell.

The only music that ever makes me think of Rifts is Breaking Benjamin, which I know has already gotten some love but can't believe no one has said Into the Nothing.

Also Nine Lashes: Anthem of the Lonely would be good for Chaos Earth or Rifts.

To me it echoes the sense of world-weary characters battling across a post-apocalyptic world.

Which songs remind YOU of Rifts? Or, alternately, which songs do you play during (or before) a gaming session to get amped up?

Hmm thanks for that, nice song. Well, Rifts is a grab bag of different genres, so it's really flexible for theme music. But if I was looking for a high energy soundtrack for barbarian hordes (various locales, including Valhalla in Pantheons of the Megaverse), I guess I'd go for Hail and Kill by Manowar (somewhat disturbing lyrics I'm afraid) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2hE4XO8rF4

or Sons of Odin, also by Manowar

Here to the blaze
I wander
Through this black night
I ponder
The edge of our mighty swords
Did clash
Fallen by our axes
Helmets smashed

Glory and fame
Blood is our name
Souls full of thunder
Hearts of steel
Killers of men
Of warriors friend
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers
To the end...

One day too
I may fall
I will enter Odin's Hall
I will die sword in hand
My name and my deeds will
Scorch the land

Glory and fame!
Blood is our name..
Soul full of thunder!!
Hearts of steel
Killers of men!
Of warriors friend
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers

Sons of the gods
today we shall die
Open Valhalla's door
Let the battle begin
with swords in the wind
Hail Gods of War

[Solo]

Sons of Odin we four..!!
By the hammer of Thor!
Ride down from the sky....
Another is born
Another shall fall
This day men will die!!!!

Glory and fame
Blood is our name
Souls full of thunder
Hearts of steel
Killers of men
Of warriors friend
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers
Sons of the gods today we shall die
Open Valhalla's door
Let the battle begin with swords in the wind
Hail Gods of War

Sons of the gods today we shall die
Open Valhalla's door
Let the battle begin with swords in the wind
Hail Gods of War

Let the battle begin with swords in the wind
Hail
Gods
of War!!!

[Narration:]
...Onward into the heart of battle
Fought the sons of Odin
Outnumbered many times
Still
they fought on
Blood poured fourth from their wounds
Deep into the earth
Vultures waited for the broken shells
That once were bodies
But Odin alone would choose the day
They would enter Valhalla
And in their hour of need
He sent forth unto them The Berserker Rage
Now gods and men
They rose up from the ground
Screaming like wild animals
Such is the gift of absolute power
No blade or weapon would harm them
They killed them and horses alike
And all who stood before them died that day

Hail Gods Of War!!!!!.

Kalidor wrote:Fallout is interesting because it was the future that everyone in the 50s thought the future was going to be. That's why you have high tech stuff but it's retro. Mom cooks dinner with the help of a robot, rocket powered cars, that sort of thing all keeping in theme with the cold war threat.

In Rifts, I don't think we'd see stuff exactly like it (Like, no companies like Vault-Tec because it was a golden age so no fear of mutual destruction) but the idea of some isolated generational bunkers of people who's great great grandparents survived the dark ages by staying under ground and coming out to see the "brave new world" only to be gunned down by power armored marauders isn't that far fetched.

I'd say the Fallout setting probably most closely resembles what earth probably looked like sometime about 100 years after the coming of the Rifts and 100 years prior to the Coalition rising to power. Except more emphasis on the supernatural.

Just like you could reasonably speculate 100 years after the current fallout setting you could expect to see more national and economic borders forming as the decedents of the various powers start branching out, as they have done in Rifts as order reasserts itself. And trust me, demons and monsters not-withstanding, Rifts earth is far more orderly than the despot power centers that exist in Fallout.

The music at the intro of each of the three fallouts was quite touching as post-apocalyptic songs, I thought. I definitely felt some melancholia at the thought of what had been lost to mankind.

Death by Robot on Feed Me's Calamari Tuesday, just released.

Lyrics:

"Newsflash, Newsflash:
They say robots are coming to tear us apart.
Theyll be landing on Earth tomorrow.
So we better get a good head start.

No time to pack our things,
Take our bikes and ride for the setting sun.
As the city around us burns,
Well be taking em on 1 by 1.

Well be taking em on 1 by 1.

Mayday, Mayday:
A message to anyone still left alive.
Our defences wont last much longer,
But to the end, well put up a good fight.

No time for regrets now,
Grab a gun and get to the front lines.
As the walls begin to crumble,
Well be defending the planet with our lives!

Well be defending the planet with our lives!"

I've got a storyboard in my head of a video for this song animated in a Macross-esque 80's Anime style ala Interstella 5555. It features all the iconic Rifts characters and essentially sums up Rifts and the Megaverse in 3:48. Oh yeah, the main antagonists of the video? The Mechanoids. Any of you Rifts artists who read this, let's make the best video ever, hit me up.
Zarathustra was extremely accurate. He was talking about you, man.
Whoops! Looks like I was wrong about where Mos Eisley's located.
