New power brewing to take out the CS
So in my time playing Rifts, I had encountered was Frank Knarf and John Strider, and the two joined forces and are generating a force tp take out their old employer: the CS. They amassed colossal founds on which they used to build their army, which consist of almost anything, humans, d-bee's, anything. Nowif you are interested In this just lemme know

So what's their story?

I don't care about canon answers. I'm interested in good, well-reasoned answers and, perhaps, a short discussion of how that answer is supported or contradicted by canon.
If I don't provide a book and page number, then don't assume that I'm describing canon. I'll tell you if I'm describing canon.

Re: New power brewing to take out the CS
Well Frank Knarf was a specialist for the CS, and John Strider was a very talented sniper for them, and they found that the ideals pressed by the CS was wrong; that everything should have equal rights, pretty much patriots. And they founded the "Franstrnougphinhiemer" PMC, it's a mouthful yes but every grunt, the lowest of the low is equipped with a MDC skeleton and one cybernetic arm and full visual spectrums and are given JA-12's as a primary firearm. They themselves met a very powerful enchantress and where given supernatural PS

Re: New power brewing to take out the CS
Well I'll start with Frank Knarf. He was your average boy growing up, he was a bit puny however. But as a small child his parents both were killed by a pack of wolves but spared him for he wasn't good enough for they had their share already. But he was wondering the wasteland right on the outskirts of merctown. As he went on he soon fainted from malnutrition and dehydration. But he soon awoke in a military grade tent. Little did he know he was taken in by a small d-bee settlement. Personally taken in by a Grackle Tooth couple. He grew to love that couple and was treated as one of their young. But until one day when he was about 14 a battalion of CS came in and swept out the village, but when they reached that one family, Frank's adopted family, they saw they had a child a human child. And cut a deal with the boy "come with us and join out ranks, and we shall spare your pathetic family". And so he did. But little did he know there was a bit of lies within the officer's words for as they left the battalion brutally murdered the family. As he aged and trained Knarf became one of theist promising officers within the CS. But his ambition was fueled by his hatred of the CS.

No see, they used to be CS, but left with a bunch of CS tech, such as power armor, robots, weapons, etc.

I was hoping this thread was about a brewery planning to take on the Coalition's state controlled beer industry.
Re: New power brewing to take out the CS
Sam, I'm not entirely sure what you are asking here...
Are you asking if your plot outline would make for a good campaign? My answer would be yes, or no. The truth is that I find the campaign's plot to be fairly unimportant - it is just a means to keep the players focused in the direction you want them to be. You could have your plot or one as inane as the PCs trying to stop a monkey from stealing apples from the city's orchards or anything - the events that occur while striving for whatever goal are more important in my opinion.
If you are asking if anyone actually wants to play with you in your campaign (online or something) there is an actual forum for that: viewforum.php?f=45

Interesting plot if you just want a game I see no problem with it but if you want to stay with the fluff their are a few holes I see.

As for an organization lead and funded by just two guys, taking on the entire Coalition States seems a wee bit ambitious. But good luck storming the castle!

On a small scale, waging war on the CS can be a profitable endeavor. However, it seems unlikely that that could scale up large enough to threaten the existence of the CS.
Pulling this off will require careful planning and execution. And probably significant outside funding.

A PMC with over a BILLION personnel (including angels) going against the CS? Doesn't sound like much of a challenge. Why aren't they picking on someone their own size?

If they've already got the resources to defeat the CS starting out, then it sounds to me like you're skipping over the fun part of the campaign.
But you know, the whole point of gaming is to have fun, so if this is what you want to do, then good luck and I hope it's a blast.

If they were ex-Vanguard operatives they could probably do it easy enough. One Conjurer who can provide a limitless amount of cash and one Shifter to get them off world so they can use that limitless cash to hire a limitless army. Actually getting that army back to Earth might be a little difficult for that Shifter if that army doesn't include a lot more mages however...

Re: New power brewing to take out the CS
Friend of mine did one like this with his own alien force called the legion of shadows consisting of generally op soldier power by a special chip ( at one point all there punches did md because they were that perfect) along with a omnipotent god his mages and a orbital ship larger that chi town while it was fun for the charis it had to be railed roared hard and there was little going up after taking out the c.s.

Any realisic stats for the group that they have gathered so far? And what sort of equipment are they equiping their unit with? I know that they can get a deal from one of several weapons and armor manufacturers as long as they don't tell them who the target is....

And endless loop of summoning a Lobee Optos, merging with it, sacrificing it's PPE to permanently summon another version of itself as well as a bunch of valuable resources to sell, rejecting the Lobee Optos and merging with the fresh one and reapeat.
I like to think a bunch of Conjurers exploiting the system in the Vanguard is how the resources gets a lot of it's resources that are hard to account for!

Hmm well the Franstrnougphinhïemer (the whole reason this discussion was brought up) have fire mages out the butt, and dragons, so they could put down your "scarecrows" like a sick horse. And great grammar btw

Yup and that is just part of the recon force
Make sure you have at least double that amount in VF-2SS Fighter Wings outfitted with 'SAP Specials' and a full complement of AAB's.

How does a Conjurer provide limitless cash?

And endless loop of summoning a Lobee Optos, merging with it, sacrificing it's PPE to permanently summon another version of itself as well as a bunch of valuable resources to sell, rejecting the Lobee Optos and merging with the fresh one and reapeat.
I like to think a bunch of Conjurers exploiting the system in the Vanguard is how the resources gets a lot of it's resources that are hard to account for!
I don't believe that would work. The Lobee-Optos probably doesn't quality as a magical creature so we'll assume you can conjure it in the first place. It allows you to use its 10 PPE as if it were your own, but I think it is a mistake to assume that means that you can permanently reduce its PPE base instead of your own when making conjured things permanent. FoM p85 says "...and permanently expending 1D6 PPE from his personal base" and since you lose the 10 PPE from the Lobee-Optos if you remove it, then clearly the 10 PPE isn't part of your personal PPE base.
Anyways, that's how I read it.

Well, as long as you and your friends have fun at the table with the campaign, that's what matters the most. Though I do have a question: where's the challenge in it for the player characters, and with a cast of a billion, what part of significance could the players possibly have in the shadow of such an organization?

Agreed.
Think of it like this...
Magic can do anything.
Science can do any one thing really well.
So what is better, versatility or superior firepower? From my personal experience with the system (so far) it seems that versatility trumps power. So as much as I am pained to admit it Magic is a more powerful weapon than science, when used correctly.

That's nothing, I have a googleplex of perfect old one clones amassed in a single army, all 30th level and with a perfect failsafe system of TW kill switch implants. Oh, and a 999 trillion Metal Sirens too. All piloted by War clones.

You see where this is going?
Fires.
The most powerful weapon in the Megaverse is disabled by the Magic Net spell for 20 minutes if it does not roll over a 16 on its dodge.
It all comes down to situation and circumstance 90% of the time. Who can get to cover and who cant and although someone standing in front of you with a laser rifle on full-auto can do excessively more damage. If you don't stand directly in front of them than that changes. Quickly. Trust me on this. I have been dealing with an annoyingly versatile Ley Line Walker for several game sessions now.
For instance (and this was a screw up on my behalf) I recently ran a Vampire game that was supposed to be challenging to the PC's and take several sessions. Globe of Daylight, a liberal use of the Scroll Spell and some creative thinking reduced it to a single session. Only a fool underestimates what people can do with Magic. For those who do not believe that Reduce Size (6 inches) can be a serious weapon are not thinking like a spell caster. For players caught up in the hard and fast rules of ass-kicking I suggest picking up the Book of Magic and reading most of the level 6 or higher spells. Although these spells are rare a single one is normally enough to make a magic user a formidable fighting force.
From the ability to grow to giant size and gain more MDC and better stats than most Giant Robots to the ability to fire multiple bolts of lightning that do 4D6+2 (per level) at anyone within line of sight or bounce back spells or laser fire like some sort of Pong Master Death Magician... and dont forget teleportation or the ability to open a Rift to the sun or space... or a parallel world and either curse an enemy to the timeless vacuum of space or to wander the Megaverse aimlessly for the rest of their natural lives.
Sure, in a standup fight the tech guy can do a lot more damage with a volley of missiles than a Magic-User can with the most devastating spell (At least of what I have seen) but that isn't how the Magic-User fights you. A smart Mage won't even fight you. He has his friends or summoned creatures fight you while he lays down support fire from on a building across the street (while freaking invisible). It can be a real pain in the ass for the most skilled Coalition Soldiers, especially when you're not allowed to carpet bomb the area.

While I love the VF-2, you'd probably want the atmospheric Valkyries, as the VF-2SS (SAP Special) is for use in space. But what you really need is a lethal virus bomb. One that leaves even the survivors wishing they were dead.
But the guy you really need to watch out for? The low tech, badass dude with a knife. Everyone has a plan, until they get knifed in the back.

Re: New power brewing to take out the CS
I have a few questions........Knarf, who was originally said to be human is now secretly now a Nighbane yet was NEVER found out by a Dog Pack or anyone else while still working within the the CS military? Not only that he joined forces with another human and managed to put together enough resources to create a billion being Private Military Company? Ok I am all for suspension of disbelief but this is well beyond my capability to do so and borderline ludicrously silly.
Why not just say Knarf is the one TRUE god and creator of all and call it a day? That is how ludicrous this whole idea is to me.
EDIT - ON second thought I'll be the one TRUE god and creator of all. For fun I snap my fingers to send the entirety of the Splugorth and all of their multidimensional forces to stop you. As their back up I resurrect Dolza's main fleet from Robotech (5 million huge warships, billions of mecha let alone infantry). Why? Because by and large I like aspects of the CS and you destroying them with your ridiculously powerful PMC will tip the power scale much too much for my tastes thus I feel compelled to stop you and maintain balance on Rifts Earth.
