I really don't see how you don't understand what I am writing. I'm sure suffocation occurs. I just said that I don't hear about it. The news doesn't usually state cause of death like being pierced by rebarb, crushed by concrete, heart attack. I never said it doesn't happen.

Here's how I design a game
What's in their history?
What are their goals?
What NPC is doing what?
What event is going to happen?

I will drown you in a pool, but because your face is in a pool, not because its your weakness.
If you go into water and can't swim then you drown
I react. If he whispers where no one can hear him how he hates his team mates, or that he is planning to kill them, then nothing happens, because no one knows. no one becomes suddenly suspicious, asking questions about how they "really" feel, and no one prepares for it. I don't use GM knowledge. As a player I always hated how their were NPCs that somehow knew everything I was going to do, knew my weaknesses, or a dungeon was designed around every piece of equipment I didn't have. I let things fall where they may. If a PC takes on a challenge that is too tough for them, the villain is more than willing to kill, the PC will probably die. They can one hit the villain, and vice versa. If they **** off the police is they lose that resource, but if the police need him, then they need him. NPCs can have character flaws too.
Arrogance by itself may cause bad feelings, but without actions like "gimme that coat-cuz you can't do anything about it"
Invulnerability is cool (or it was in revised) let them enjoy their power. I'm not saying their reckless behavior won't have consequences- they will still drown, succumb to gas, magic, mind probes, suffocation, being pinned, but otherwise. But go ahead, enjoy not being hurt by an ICBM, but everything around you will be destroyed and dead. Consequences though don't have to be directed at them, it can be around them. But sometimes there aren't any at all

now i have a question. would an invulnerable character using the aps: fire power still "burn out" after using a the super nova ability?

I would say YES. The specific power says that they burn out and since invunerability doesnt list 'immune to the consiquences of their actions' I would say it provides no protection. If you want a cheesy rules lawyery response then point out that Invunerable characters can affect other invunerable characters....and thus they can affect themself......
The rules are not a bludgeon with which to hammer a character into a game. They are a guide to how a group of friends can get together to weave a collective story that entertains everyone involved. We forget that at our peril.

I understand your question in that the character is invulnerable and may be invulnerable to the effects. However I look at it as an organic issue. Your powers are linked and react uniquely to your physiology and power combos. While you are invulnerable to normal fire, even MD, if going Nova can kill you, that is a weakness of the system. Now I could see at least one interesting side effect-character goes nova-rolls that he dies, but his external body remains intact while his internals are completely incinerated, perhaps even burning out his eyes with tongues of flame softly waiving out of the husk

a magic wepon hero with invulneribility. normal form is well normal but when powered up would this magical invulnerbility function different than the standard power?

not canon But I would rule that if your source for invulnerability was Magic then you would be invulnerable to magic and use the conversion rules for damage capacity for all other forms of damage. So you don't take damage from a fireball, you can't be possessed, you can't be dominated etc. however you can get stuck to the floor, levitated

kind of how i felt the invulneribility only applying to magic,psionic,magic weapons etc. but offering an AR vs other types of damage.
