Dana: "So these Bioroids, their control interfaces react to the pilot as if they were an extension of their own bodies?"
Professor Cochrane: "Indeed, it's what gives them their remarkable agility."
Dana: "And is there any feedback in the OTHER direction?"
Cochrane: "I imagine there's SOME, in order to insure a proper sense of balance and 'body awareness'. You can hardly throw a perfect punch if you don't know where your own hand is."
Dana:"How much feedback?"
Cochrane: "Well, I figure the faster and more agile the mecha, the greater the feedback."
Dana: "Thanks, prof!"

Re: Robotech Blooper Reels
no real reason a bioroid should have that sort of bio-feedback, but funny.
they definitely would need a way to expand a pilots own proprioception in a way that lets the pilot properly control the mecha, but positional data and a small amount of force feedback would suffice i think.
of course tying damage control sensors for the mecha into the pilot's own senses might simplify the heads up display.. though i'd imagine they'd be heavily buffered so even a complete loss of limb would be more of an ache, not immobilizing pain..
hmm, great, now i have something else to consider and add to my website's notes..

Well, yeah....but seeing as some of the Bioroids look like they have codpieces, and sometimes 'superior technology' gets over-engineered...

"We've brought in a casualty for you to treat, Clone Masters!"
"Who is the patient?"
"Karno, of the Guard Triumvirate."
"Ah! Well, where is he? Is he in the next room? All I see of him is his helmet!"
"And his boots."
"Uh....revered Clone Masters...This IS Karno...He's sort of..."
"Brutally stuffed upside his own helmet with extreme violence."
"I....see. Okay, this may not be as simple a triage as we normally expect from battlefield casualties."

"Milord, we've run into a problem extracting Karno from his helmet."
"Indeed? What?"
"Only his boots came off."
"Then attach the hauling shackles to his ankles."
"We did that next."
"And? It worked?"
"It pulled his legs off. We've had to surgically re-attach them."
"I...see...That could pose a problem."
"Suggestions, milord?"
"Anchor the next attempt directly to the bones, and keep some spare parts from the android vat on hand."

"JUst as well...We determined that it was Karno's inflated ego that was keeping him stuck in his helmet."
"And dealing with that would pose a problem HOW?"
"Milord, our perfect society has been set up to do little but praise its greatness and the infallibility of its elite class. How and where would we have found somebody with the ability to deflate Karno's genetically-engineered superior sense of himself without having to resort to physically drilling holes in his head?"

I have notice that about the Gundam universes. Put a teen with just the basics to no training into the pilot seat of the most or almost advance moble suit, and they become an litteral ace in 5 minutes and can go tow to tow with the enemies best pilots.

I have notice that about the Gundam universes. Put a teen with just the basics to no training into the pilot seat of the most or almost advance moble suit, and they become an litteral ace in 5 minutes and can go tow to tow with the enemies best pilots.
It's like the most advanced mecha have a built-in tutorial, or else they automatically become Junior Ace Magnets, attracting previously unassuming and un-realized super-pilots just as their voices break...
Of course, a genre-savvy Evil Overlord will learn to capitalize on this, parading his most advanced mecha and paying close attention to who approaches it. Young people who try to pilot it will a) be immediately kidnapped and brainwashed into loyal drones, b) held hostage inside the rigged machine to lure out any older rebels, or c) immediately killed for trespass and attempting grand theft mecha.

While the P. 1000 was probably the inspiration for those land ships out of Gundam, and possibly the Bolo. I suspect it's appearence on an actual battlefield would attract the UNDIVIDED ATTENTION of every artillery piece, ground attack aircraft and bomber in radio range.

"Trouble rather the Tiger in his Lair,
Than the Sage among his Books,
For all the Empires and Kingdoms,

To be turned over with the Flick of a Finger,
And the Turning of a Page"
