Published Adventure Recommendation

Unread post by rrank5377 »

I'm an experienced GM, but new to the Rifts universe. Whenever I run a game for the first time, I like to run a published adventure or two so I can get a feel for how the players will react and get a good flavor for the world. I use that first published adventure or two as a springboard into a longer campaign. Given the opportunity, I prefer a publisher supplied adventure, as opposed to fan created, though as long as the fan created adventure is accurate to the setting, I'm cool with that.

Can anyone recommend a book with some good, published adventures that I could pull from?

Buy a copy of the Rifts GM Screens, along with the accompanying booklet.
There are some good adventures in there.

Sourcebook 1: archie 3 scenario. IMO its second only to PF tombs of gersiddi (SP?) scenario

and since SB1 archie 3 info has been greatly expanded, so if your group enjoy that adventure, you could easily develop it into a campaign, as archie 3 right hand man hagan makes an appearance in the mechanoids book, Sourcebook 1 revised and expanded, Shemmerrian nation and archie-3 even gets mentioned in Slynn Dimensional market and Vampire kingdoms revised

I was wondering the same thing. I glanced quick through the products area of the Palladium website and didn't see anything. Maybe I was looking in the wrong place?

And thank you all for the suggestions. I'll definitely be checking them out!

I can't find it on the Palladium site either.

You can get the Adventure booklet used on Amazon, though:

Don't forget to checkout Drive Thru RPG
http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/6 ... Adventures

They have the GM Screens, though it is in PDF format.

Some others that might have what you are looking for, that haven't been mentioned (someone with the books might know more as I don't have them):
-Seige on Tolkeen Series (1-4 & 6)
-the various Rifts Adventure SBs dealing with the Chi-Town Burbs and Blackvault
-Rifts Africa (4 Horseman?)
-Rifts-Index-and-Adventures-Vol-2

All of the above can be found in the Palladium Store.

I don't think anyone can, since Rifts is all over the map power level wise. It would be like having a dungeon in Pathfinder that had to be interesting for a party with a 1st level character and a 12th level character in the same group. Experience says that such a thing will be fatal to the 1st level and boring to the 12th probably.

So what Palladium does, is come up with "ideas" for adventures that you can kind of flesh out based on your party. If your toughest character is a human wilderness scout, you can scale it back, but if you have three glitterboys, you can add some additional foes. Some of these adventures are pretty well fleshed out, and require only minimal work to drop them into your game, but there is currently nothing like the Pathfinder Adventure Paths, that you can use to take a group from start to finish.

I think this is a big weakness for Rifts, and would like to see more writers allowed to run with the material and create their own adventure paths that groups could use. I think the biggest problem with Rifts is very few people want to GM it since it is one of the harder games to run. Having some kind of pre written adventures, that you can use as is, without a lot of customizing, I think, would go a long way towards getting more people comfortable in GMing the game.

There was a two-part adventure for Tolkeen: Aftermath in The Riftsr. Don't recall the issue numbers, but I believe one had the cover art from Rifts Africa and thr other had an armored angel with a flaming aword (possibly in front of a stained glass window) on it.

I ran most of it before we got away from that Rifts game, and it was pretty fun.
