Re: Running Robotech at Sooner Con in Oklahoma
I had a blast running Robotech. The scenario I used was based of an episode of macross with a twist. Rick hunter had just crashed a VF for the first time in town. The Civil Defense force had to run in and rescue him from the hordes of Battlepods..
For this game i used a table with city terrain. (wish i had remember my camera).
Table Length: 5x3
Start location UEDF: short table edge
UEDF unit types: Tomahawk
start location Zent's: middle of the long table edge.
Zent's unit types: Battlepods
The first time i ran the mission it was using just the Robotech RPG rules. It took about an hour for the UEDF to get to rick and escape of the board.
The second time I ran it I used rules from both Robotech RPG & Robotech RPG/Tactics. All skill test and everything was from the RPG, movement and weapon ranges/damage where from tactics. People LOVED it. The ease at which you can take the rpg and then bam, its a mini's game, then back to an RPG was the best part.
All in all, i had a great time. Got to meet lots of people, and expose a new generation of kids to the wonders of Robotech.
PS: I did not get any swag. Which was expect due to the short time frame. But I did go to my FLGS and picked up a copy of the "New Generation" source Book and donate it to the charity auction on behalf of MA.
