Starship yards
For use with the Star Kingdoms / Empires. Determine if the yard is a military yard or a commercial yard when first generated.

01 - 15 None

16 - 30 Miniscule Sized
Repairs of small craft only. Building small orbital craft only

31 - 45 Small sized
Building small military craft. Repairing destroyer / frigates sized at most. Can build large inter systems commercial craft.

46 - 65 Moderate Sized
Building several (1D4) military craft at the same time. Can build one medium sized military vessels (Light Cruisers). Can perform maintence on larger ships. Can build small to medium commercial craft that have FTL. There are one of these yards to every 25 systems.

66 - 79 Intermediate Sized
Building many small military craft (2D4) at the same time as several (1D3) medium sized military craft (Cruisers) they can produce quickly and effciently. They can produce large numbers of commercial craft. Can perform maintence on larger ships. There is one of these yards to every 50 systems.

80 - 89 Large Sized
Buiulding many lines of small (3D4) (destroyer / frigates) and medium (1D6) military craft. This sized yard can also produce large militaery craft, but at a slow steady pace. (1 at a time.) The civilian craft of various sizes can be produced in reasonably large numbers. Certain ones of this yard types can specialized in certain types of ships at increased rates. There are one of these yards to every 75 systems. Can perform maintence on large ships.

90 - 95 Expansive sized
Building many lines of small and medium military craft. This yard can produce many lines of large military craft. do to the increase in orbital factories will increase speed of production. Any size or type of civilian craft can be produced here. Can perform maintence on large craft. There are one of these yards to every 100 yards.

96 - 98 Extensive Sized
This yard can build large numbers of various craft sizes at the same time. TThis can produce both military and civilian types of craft. there are generally one of these yards to every 250 systems.

Looks good... 8) :bandit:
My first thought, though, for determining size of fleet, might be to graduate it by using the rolled baseline as the number of those units ON AVERAGE, PER SYSTEM.
That doesn't mean that each system in the interstellar kingdom has that number of ships in it at all times, but is the average available to the kingdom to shift around(like variable forcefields).

The numbers are a bit high for single system star-nations..but it is for rifts. So it does not matter too much.
May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.

Gotta figure all sorts of scenarios, from the large fleet made up of other peoples' junkers sold on the arms market, to found alien technologies like mothballed dreadnought warships. They're numbers, not any indication of their QUALITY. :D

*nods*
The numbers shown could be misleading due to the ships' quality and "in use" status.

Sort of like the difference between the Royal Manticore Navy and the Solarian League Navy in the Honorverve (in the covered time period of the main story line.)

Indeed, you might have sixty ships on paper, but only enough crews for half of them, with the rest effectively in mothballs. Then again, you might have sixty REGISTERED active duty warships, bit three times that number in light mothballing or reserve fleet merchant service; call in your reservists, peel back the foil, refuel the reactors, and plug the weapons controls back in, and your fleet is up and ready to fight. :bandit:

Hmm... These fleets are a bit "heavy headed", ie. too few escort (frigate/dessie) units compared to capitals.

Of course, now we need to come up with Random Roll Starship Charts for creating one-shot or random 'mook-ships'(gears start turning).... :bandit:

I will be working on some more charts in the near future. I have just been terribly busy with RL.

Tell me about it. Just finished my income taxes and discovered how badly I got hosed by falling interest rates and low work hours....falling into a substantially lower income bracket is NOT worth the lower tax rate...on top of which I have to find decent health insurance.
