But for them that isn't a terrible cost to pay.
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"
"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."
"As you will it, your Grace."

Re: (AU) Good Splugorth
Awesome thread. We (Storytellas Studios) actually played this a bit. There was an ANCIENT Splugorth we called "Massa" (a play on Master) who saved a PC (a heavily augmented Bio-Wizardry Anti-Monster named Redrum) from death. He became a stabilizing force of good in a conflicted Redrum. Long story, but they eventually saved this "good" Splugorth from a Limbo dimension we created (Massa was banished there by his more selfish/evil kin). It's good to see that others are thinking outside the proverbial box.
All will bow to CJ, Future Ruler of the Megaverse!

Yeah ( ), I noticed the thread when someone mentioned they had tried something similar to what I mentioned on my "Temporal Books" thread.

At least it's Necromancy of Light.
Though if I can get the ol' creative juices on this topic flowing again, maybe a full-blown RESURRECTION.

Looks interesting... Do the Naruni also become good in your world or do GS have even more incentive to hate them than the evil ones?

The thread that NEVER DIES! So much necromantic effort in such a small span of posts!
Anyway, I thought it was thought of as a single point of departure/for want of a nail sorta thing

No...the original idea was, 'what would happen if one big stone dropped into the (canon) pool did so differently?'. Then watch how the ripples alter the megaverse. Some things change radically, while others are insulated by the sheer enormity of the Megaverse. Those beings closest to the (Good) Splugorth will be changed the most, so the Minion races catch the 'goodness' bug for the most part. Even the Sunaj are more inclined towards good, or at least less obvious evil.
Naruni, however, still finds more profit in selling guns than handing out bandages, and they're regarded by the GS the same way pacifist gun-control groups regard the American gun industry; as dangerous and reckless sociopaths out to make a buck off violence(not that the GS have anything against self-defense, and they DO use weapons to protect other people, but Naruni sells rather indiscriminately, and does little to close out conflicts by more diplomatic means).
That having been said, Naruni Enterprises IS spending more money to polish up their self-image in areas where the GS is operating, and they've investing a lot more in life-saving technologies with field hospital and combat medicine applications. They also spy on GS medical bazaars looking to copy promising technologies they can apply to their own equipment lines(for instance, salves that can instantly regrow skin would be PERFECT for combat armor that heals soldiers and lets them stay in the fight longer), especially if there's a PROFIT angle to the new technology(and ideally one they can acquire a monopoly on). They're like gangsters who host block parties for the neighborhood kids just to give them some good press and a sympathetic meat shield to hide behind.

I'll take that as a compliment.
The Good Splugorth are one of my favorite 'turnabout' ideas, next to the Shemarrian Civil War. Writing from the initial idea, the permutations and inspirations just kept coming and coming in a frenzy.
