*Phalanx Destroid fires off a full barrage.
Unfortunately, its launcher barrels are still pointed DOWN in reload position.

*Spartan Destroid fires off a full barrage.
Unfortunately, the launcher covers are still in place.
*BOOM*

*Tomahawk Destroid fires off its medium range(back pod) missiles.
Unfortunately, its SHORT RANGE launcher covers are open and up.
*BOOM*

*Tomahawk Destroid fires off its leg missile pods.
Unfortunately, yes, you guessed it, the pod covers are still closed.
*BOOM*

*Massed formation of Super Veritechs fire off a barrage of missiles.
Unfortunately the guy in the back of the formation is out of position and puts most of his up the tail pipes of the guys in the FRONT of the formation.
*BOOM*

Southern Cross Officer: "See, this is why we abandoned missiles as a primary weapon for our mecha."
*Cut to: Captain Komodo in his command tank, ordering a full and immediate missile strike.
Unfortunately, his command track is parked right ON TOP of one of the missile silos.

The US Navy actually, with its F-11 Tiger, managed to have a fighter capable of shooting itself down with its own cannon(and that's supposedly what happened during high speed strafing exercises).
