Re: Rampant Speculation: The "Surprise Book"
reportedly, there are splicers manuscripts complete with art submitted to kevin. in theory, if kevin didn't feel quite as attached to the line as to basically every other line, and let someone else edit, do layout, etc, it could be a splicers book. but, practically speaking... my guess is art of some form, possibly a book (but with good odds of being a t-shirt or mug). not because that's what i want, mind, it's just pretty much the only thing i can honestly say i believe could go through the pipeline so quickly; there's very little editing to be done since few if any words are required, especially if it's a mug or shirt. my guess is based purely on what i think could actually have any realistic chance of being produced without a lot of time investment on kevin's part.
(edit: on a side note, you don't have splicers as an option)

Who knows. Quite frankly I'm getting sick and tired of surprises of any kind from Palladium.
If it's stupid and it works. It's not stupid
Palladium can't be given a free pass for criticism because people have a lot of emotion invested in it.
Pathfinder is good. It is not the second coming of D&D.

Agreed. Last night's "surprise" on the Robotech KS is plenty for me personally. I put it in quotes because the disregard for keeping their word and towards backers was predicable months ago pretty much as soon as the "Gencon or bust!... but backers first!" promise was made.
Congratulations, Palladium Books. You just threw away a customer of 28 years because of how you handled Robotech Tactics.

It'll be interesting if angry backers do show up at booth 1223 to discuss Kevin's questionable practices. Even if it do go down like that I don't think it'll be the yellfest some think it will be. Unless someone on either side loses it and then...

I find it rather refreshing, myself. By publishing a book without formally announcing it, there's no fan frustration when the delays hit.

Even before the RTT announecment they already have enough on their plate in terms of projects. To be blunt they already have a hard time getting books out. Adding another one to the backlog is not going to make other books get released faster imo. All they need to say is were able to add title xyz to the release schedule. They have used "it's a surprise" strategy one too many times imo. For me at least.

I will point out that the Murmur says a "surprise title". So it might be the PF paper figures that MadManMike mentions in the PF forum.

Re: Rampant Speculation: The "Surprise Book"
I know what I want it to be... (one of the two BTS books, or Megaverse in Flames, or a new PF, or a new HU).
But the best odds are on one of the 3 following...
Yet another Rifts book (It is the company cash cow)
Robotech (There appears [to an outside observer] to be some sort of "obligation" to produce one fairly regularly)
Dead Reign (these seem to be spat out with some regularity)

How bout 1 of the chaos earth books that have been blown off for 10+ years?
I admit a bit of OCD when it comes to the rifts collection but I might have been cured of that after a certain issue we can't mention without someone locking the thread.

think he mentioned those explicitly in the weekly update, so probably not them. but i agree it's far more likely to be them or something like that than it is to be an actual new RPG rulebook/sourcebook.

I with Damian on this one. While I want to see Rifts Antartica. It really should not be released before MIF. Considering how delayed MIF is. It would show to me at least that they are not listening to the fans at all.
Jorel wrote:It is gonna take more than that claim by a certain snake oil salesman to get me excited about anything Palladium for quite some time.
LOL I have pretty much been ignoring the the majority of what is written in the murmurs for a better part of a year or more anyway. Not interested in reading about killer Geese from outer space.
rosco60559 wrote:How bout 1 of the chaos earth books that have been blown off for 10+ years?
Again would like to see a book for CE as well MIF needs to take priority. To be honest I would relaunch CE with a updated core book that includes all the magic. monsters and pyschic powers in one.

I realize it might upset you. But look at why I believe so: Mathew Clements. He has brought out books that weren't part of the normal pipeline. Black Market anyone? If Kevin doesn't believe he needs to edit it much, push a book. Since he's a freelancer/staff writer. He tends to have less rewrites and edits.

I think it will upset more than just Damian. If they want to push a smaller book that is easier to edit to get more money. I'm all for it. Just as long as PB don't make it out to be anything else but a money grab.
