OCC Casting Call

Related to a different topic here. (re: What OCC do you want in a main cast) Who would you like to see play as particular OCC's in the Rifts movie? Please note, I'm not looking for particular character/NPC references here, just a general OCC. For example, who should be the Juicer or the SAMAS pilot and so on? Any ideas?

Been a while since I thought on this, but here's a few of my ideas;

Juicer: Vin Diesel (Pitch Black, Chronicles of Riddick, XXX)
SAMAS Pilot: Hayden Christianson (Star Wars Ep 2 & 3, Jumper)
Cyber Knight: Can't remember the actor's name, but he played Drago in the new Clash of the Titans and Tristan in King Arthur with Clive Owen (a little help here?)
Glitterboy Pilot: Ewan MacGregor (Star Wars Ep 1-3, Moulan Rouge)
Line Walker: Liam Neeson (Star wars Ep 1, Taken)
Shifter: Jessica Alba (Sin City, Fantastic Four 1 & 2)
Dog Boy (voice only): John Malkovitch (Con-Air, Red)

That's all i can think of at the moment... maybe more later. Anyone else got any ideas? :?

 Actually thought of that to tell the truth! But then figured by the time the Rifts movie gets made, she may actually be dead. *shrug*

Jewel Staite as a Burster

I actually see her more of an Operator than a Burster, to be honest. But if I were to break away from casting her in a role that she's already done (aka, Serenity's Mechanic), then I would have to say that she seems more like a Mind Melter than a Burster to me. Now I could easily see Vin Diesel as a Burster.

Oh man, this just popped into my head... Will Smith as a SAMAS Pilot. Give him a whole new twist from Independance Day! Cast him as the good CS officer that quietly questions his governments methods while executing his orders until one day just saying enough is enough.

As great as this idea is, I don't think it would work.

A black man working for a repressive, racist regime run by white people rebels and is labeled a traitor to humanity...That is gonna play well with modern audiences. Politically correct stupidity can be a ***** sometimes...

Like I said, I love the idea and think he'd be great at the role, but seriously, no movie studio is even going to risk this one.

I feel I should respectfully disagree. While, according to the general layout of the CS regime, he would be labelled a traitor to humanity, the fact of his being black or white is irrelevant as he is trying to embrace that which is actually good and tolerant about humanity rather than follow the facist regime of human supremacy the CS promotes. In this war it isn't skin color that's the issue... well ok, to a point it is considering the odd skin colors of some D-Bees, but you know what I'm driving at here... I see the overall basis behind the movie as a fight against fascism and bigotry regardless of one's own background, ethnicity, species, etc.

I am not talking about in-setting. I am talking about how the studios and moviegoing audience would receive such events being depicted in-movie. Granted, the studios might embrace the publicity generated by the likes of Al Sharpton, but at the same time, that is negative press. I simply think it is a big risk.

Doesn't seem to be any bigger of a risk than Avatar was; a human turning against humans to fight at on the side of a relatively primitive (and strangely Native American styled) alien race trying to protect their homes and way of life from the greedy (and predominantly white) humans that were ravaging their planet. True enough, the total aspects of the two are different, ie the motivations of the protagonists and antagonists as well as Avatar having some pretty clearly drawn lines of who was good or evil and why. But to me, the same kind of risk is there, and Avatar ended up being quite a hit.

i agree JuliusCreed. in fact, i believe those same PC buttheads that Romphaia is citing would adore a black hero in this manner as it parellels the trials of an escaped slave. of course, were this to be a strong theme of the movie, i would simply vomit.
but dismissing it based on PC attitudes of the modern era, tarantino is making a movie about a slave right now. sure, will smith turned the roll down, and tarantino had to go through like 5 other guys before jamie fox accepted, but the movie is being made.
still waiting for another tale from alrik vas....

I really don't care who, as long as they put a Glittor Boy in there for a good part of the movie.
