Nice guide, should be helpful for a lot of new painters.
As a lot of the each mini is white/grey, did you ever try priming white and washing it black? Works imho awesome, gives a good base coat and helps showing details for easier painting

Personally I am a fan of avoiding black priming. The idea behind it is to get all your black-lining done automatically, though my experience has been that it is easier to line a miniature yourself than paint light colors smoothly over black due to the number of coats required. None the less this is a matter of personal preference.

I tend to base in black when I'm blending and spending time. When I want faster paint jobs with less depth of color I base with a color that will remain visible on the body if the model and use washes to darken grooves

Very nice indeed, and very characterful. It's nice to have visible evidence that the seam issue can be overcome.

I love what you've done, it looks great. You appear to work backwards from how I would do it - large areas first, details later but whatever works for you!

Thanks for the great article... I've never thought to use black as a base coat before to "cheat" a little when getting panel lines in place.
