Obviously a Time Loop---Probably one where it's Lisa who's Awake(she brought champagne in her subspace pocket, and knows all the quiet corners on Breetai's flagship where they're unlikely to be disturbed get lost for a while).

And the Turning of a Page"

Exodor is too, but in this loop, for some reason, "fleet security officer" Exodor and commander Breetai report to "supreme commander Khyron", so exodor does not dare try to alter things too much on the zentreadi end..

So the smart Zentraedi this loop are ripe for rebellion because their supreme commander's spending them by gatling gun ammo? Or Kleenex during flu season? Laying low and awaiting an opportunity to kakk the young bastard who offed the old fatso and now runs the Zentraedi like Caligula going through the Imperial Roman treasury?

(interesting; there seems to be some new editing software that automatically converts words like 'fat@$$' into 'fatso'. My vitriolic blade has been dulled, the cravens!)

Was it the dagger Exedore slid between Khyron's ribs? Or the chair that Breetai slammed down on the Supreme Commander's skull? Or maybe the poison Azonia slipped into his drink? Or maybe the five thousand pounds of Terran-supplied C4 going off underneath him that did the final deed?

on the positive side, humanity only has to deal with a grand fleet of 2-3 million ships.. since the supreme commander has a tendency to vaporise the ships of those who fail him..

Which means that ultimately Earth faces two Regults, one of which shoots the other in the back(or maybe two Quadronos, and the last one standing is Miriya), or the Robotech Masters finally get one last message from two Zentraedi on the same screen, watching each other intently, because they don't dare turn their backs to each other.

Yeah, Emperor Nero may have fiddled, but Empress Musica knows how to both play a Cosmic Harp and SING.
Oh yeah, and she has Gurkhas on speed-dial.
