A few questions about dart guns and bow.
What is the rate off fire for a blow dart gun?
Can either targeting or sniping work with one?
Would a bonus from PP apply
Does a bow get a bonus from PP? I belive it does.
What about PS? Obvioulsy not on a blow dart.
If a rof of 2 for lvl 1 archery, does a called shot take a full melee?
Is an aimed shot possible or not, due to that being a special ability for longbow men?
If it is is possible to do a called aimed shot, then would it take longer then ine melee round?
Assuming all of this was possible then I could make a character with, Steady hand totem +1, targeting +1 at lvl 2, sniping +2 to aim, wp mouth weapons +1, and then do an aimed shot +2 for a total of 6 or 7+ PP bonus. And if this was a spirit weapon I was think 2d6 MDC but only 2 shots per round so low damage and speed but high accuracy.
Obviously neither targeting nor sniping mentiin blow darts nor does spirit weapons but it all makes snese to me except I couldnt do a called aimied shot.
Edit: this wasnt counting an additional attack per round for a weapon fetish which would allow a called aimed shot. And another +1 to strike.

Re: A few questions about dart guns and bow.
Think they had wright up for blow guns in rifts Japan. Think they had number of actions.
The Clones are coming you shall all be replaced, but who is to say you have not been replaced already.
Master of Type-O and the obvios.
Soon my army oc clones and winged-monkies will rule the world but first, must .......
I may debate canon and RAW, but the games I run are highly house ruled. So I am not debating for how I play but about how the system works as written.

Re: A few questions about dart guns and bow.
Unfortunatly I dont have rifts japan. So I need to find a range for blowguns as well.
Re: A few questions about dart guns and bow.
range is on page 328 of RUE. Rifts japan as more detailed write ups on thrown and blow guns including separate number off attacks. Without that book you would go off W.P. Targeting using the number of attacks from hand to hand. If you have both books you would go off which ever your GM decides, most likely RUE as it is easer to integrate into mixed combat.

Re: A few questions about dart guns and bow.
Alright sounds good. Looks like I have figured most of it out.
Re: A few questions about dart guns and bow.
it is also in the GMG under mouth weapon WP. its +1 to strike at 1 4 8 and 12 and one extra melee attack at levels 3-7-11. It looks like it starts with normal attacks per round.

Re: A few questions about dart guns and bow.
If willing to reach into non-Rifts books, Mystic China page 12 has a "Projectile Weapons (not guns)" category which is like an intermediary between Ancient and Modern (guns). The first one there is WP Mouth Weapons for blowpipes and mouth darts and anything else lung-driven and mouth-aimed. Has its own strike bonuses. It mentions gaining an extra shot per melee at certain levels but no base amount of shots (unlike Small Thrown and Bow and Slingshot which start with multiple) which leads me to believe you probably start at once/melee with them. That said, Crossbow starts at 1/melee and outright states this so I'm not sure why Mouth Weapons would not, probably an oversight. It says 'extra shot' so you have to start with at least one, it's possible that it was more than one intended but I think 1 is what we should assume.

Re: A few questions about dart guns and bow.
I found it interesting that it did not list a base number of attacks but still gives extra attacks at levels I am guessing a typo or missed entry for the base starting attacks.
That said I don't think if you are using a blowgun that you are likely to be taking more than a shot or two with it anyway. Either you hit your target and whatever is on your dart incapacitates your target or it does not. Shooting a whole bunch of darts that do basically no damage does not accomplish much more than the first dart. Either the poison you are using works or it does not.

Itd be cool if big dragons or titans had huge blow guns and fired rocks at littler enemies.

Kaid: if there are 2 guards on duty, it would be ideal to take them out in the same melee. One shot a round gives an entire melee for the other guard to react.

Re: A few questions about dart guns and bow.
Well given each round I believe is 15 seconds between your first shot and the first guard going ouch what was that and the poison kicking in even at 1 shot per round its likely plenty to hit two guards before either can really react.
Even if you go with the targeting attacks per round you are getting at least two shots per round and under what I see in the GMG you get full attacks per round. The 1 shot per round from cross bows makes sense for crossbows as you have to mechanically winch the string back into position a blow gun does not require anywhere near that kind of effort to reload and refire.

Re: A few questions about dart guns and bow.
If the first guard notices the 2nd get hit then he would be capable of parrying or dodging your next shot. Then there's also issues like having to surpass AR. Doesn't come up as often in Rifts but could be a factor if guy is wearing cyber-armor or NGR clothes.

All primitive weapons including ranged weapons get a full pp bonus.
Unless a bow specifically is written with a strength bonus none is included. I can only think of one bow that is effected by strength.
The sniper skill and the targeting bonuses can be applied to bows.
You may make aimed shots with bows, if you do not have sufficient actions then the aiming carries over to the next round.
As of RUE a blowgun has the same Rof as your standard actions and is covered under WP targeting.
The equation for primitive weapons (bows and thrown weapons included) is: Hth strike bonus + PP bonus + weapon Skill Bonus + all other applicable bonuses (quality of weapon, other skills, magic, super powers, psionics etc).

Same RoF as actions? Sweet, gonna stack the bonus shots from NaSS onto that then
I kinda got the impression we didn't add HtH bonuses to ranged ancients like arrows/darts tho, since it isn't in close range.

W.P. Ancient Weapons
A note about Ancient Weapon Proficiencies (W.P.): Each W.P.
provides combat training with a particular type of weapon. The result is
hand to hand combat bonuses to strike and parry whenever that particular
type of weapon is used. Bonuses that increase for that particular
weapon are accumulative and are combined with the character's P.P.
attribute, O.C.C., and Hand to Hand Combat skill bonuses.
Rifts GmG page 32 wrote:Are Hand to Hand bonuses combined with Weapon Proficiencies?
Yes, for melee -weapons like clubs, swords, spears, bow and arrow,
etc. So if you have +1 to strike from the Hand to Hand: Basic combat
skill and +1 with W.P. Sword and +2 from the P.P. attribute, the character
will be +4 to strike.
No, for modern -weapons; i.e. guns and missiles. The W.P. itself
presents the only applicable shooting/strike bonus.
There you go.

Nice! Wondering what the grayest area would be, I guess cross-bows are still ancient but they sure become a lot more rifle-like.
