How to get rid of Entities?
So I'm looking through the various spells, and I'm not seeing any way to get rid of non-posessing entities. Banishment, Constrain Being, and Exorcism are what I was looking at but the first two only keep it out of an area, while the Exorcism spell only seems to apply to posessing entities and not to poltergeists or haunting entities, or the others. And even then, there's only a 50% chance of sending it back to its dimension, assuming they fail both their re-posession attempts!
Is there a better way? Is there any way to get rid of the non-posessing ones? Besides just outright killing it?

Exorcism should work on all entities, not just the ones possessing someone. Look under each entities' description, the two I checked (poltergeist and haunting) said that the spell was the best way to get rid of them.

Is there a way to prevent an evil human from coming back other than building a prison or killing him?
No?
Why should it be any easier to get rid of entities you don't want hanging around
Build an entity prison, use control/eslave entity to make them go through a rift (leaving them no way to get back), or kill them.
You deal with them the same way you deal with anyone else you don't really want hanging around. All have a reasonable IQ score and can be made to understand "Bad things will happen if you ever come back". It even says in their writeups Commune with Spirits can usually convince them to leave and not come back, while others may require a show of force before they back off, they are reasonably intelligent, just alien, while siphon and possessing entities are significantly smarter than most humans (but also tend to be more evil and thus require more show of force before they back off)

Re: How to get rid of Entities?
In the Rifters along in the same article as the Techno-shifter there is a spell that traps entities within object.
If you can get rid of them in the 1st place I think the sanctuary spell will keep them out.

May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.

Get rid of them?
Why would you want to do that when they're so easy to contol?

I don't care about canon answers. I'm interested in good, well-reasoned answers and, perhaps, a short discussion of how that answer is supported or contradicted by canon.
If I don't provide a book and page number, then don't assume that I'm describing canon. I'll tell you if I'm describing canon.

That's a Beyond The Supernatural 1st Edition spell, to trap entities within an object.

Re: How to get rid of Entities?
OP might be interested in Rifts Canada page 186, there is a "Special Inuit Magic Item" called the "Spirit Catcher" which has 2 functions, the first dealing with possessing and the other for jailing a poltergeist/haunting "lesser" class entity. This probably excludes possessive/siphon/tectonic ones since they were not mentioned, and probably the new variants in Madhaven as well. Not sure of any other 'lesser' entities it might contain, only 2 explicitly are caught.
Maybe an enemy's already in control of them?
*always confused by how competing control spells or abilities work*
*doesn't understand why Ghost Makers from the Noro have not conquered the megaverse with their army of infinite-duration Haunting-Siphon slave entities*

Is the item useful for anything once you've created it?

Some form of coercion or cooperation would be required, but some spells and psychic powers would let you do that. It basically gives you the malicious genie ring of lore.

Re: How to get rid of Entities?
From Beyond the Supernatural, 1st Edition:
Immure Entity
Range: Touch or 20 feet.
Duration: Instant; imprisonment is indefinite.
Saving Throw: Standard.
P.P.E.: 200
Level: Eleven.
This invocation is not a summoning ritual, but is extremely useful in directing and controlling supernatural "entities." Immure can actually imprison an entity inside an object. The act of imprisonment can be punishment of as part of a scheme. An imprisoned entity still retains all of its abilities, although it is trapped. Consequently, a seemingly harmless ring or medal could contain a poltergeist, trapped entity, or a possessing entity which can still use its abilities to help or hurt. The immured entity must obey the mage who imprisoned it and can not strike out at him while imprisoned.
There are only two ways to free an immured entity. The arcanist who trapped it releases it by cancelling the magic, or by destroying the object in which it is imprisoned. To prevent easy escape, the arcanist will usually use a hard, durable substance, such as metals, stones and gems, but any non-living substance can be used (wood, skull, etc.).

Re: How to get rid of Entities?
In Rifts there are Bio-Wizards who can make a wide variety of Entity Powered Items. Items are listed in World Book 21:Splynn and the Book of Magic. [This requires a Bio-Wizard to make this and is rather exclusive/tricky to have access to.]
Alternatively...
By delving into the particularly rare and really obscure certain Techno-Wizardry branches (essentially the tech side of proto-biowizardry) can do similar. Though its so obscure its almost a head-bashing wall topic of discussion. [In theory certain variety of Techno-Wizardry could achieve this.]
Beyond this...
Certain degrees of Rune Weapon making (evil technique versions) could possibly be powered by these though they would probably be limited to the least powerful type.

If something makes the RPG experience better that's great. If not don't use it.
If not overly informative hopefully it was at least mildly amusing. Munchkin Clown Away! <fwoosh... honk, honk>
